Only watched a bit of the 3rd but Annunen looked great!
Watched a decent amount, summary:
– A LOT of penalties
– We still suck at faceoffs
– You can see the type of players we target in drafts front office; all speed, hockey mechanics, aggression… the same strategies we’ve been seeing since Bednar took over I could see today
– We aren’t a big team, we seem to get a bullied a bit, a lot of our guys got knocked down, bumped off the puck too easy
– Annunen looked great. So composed, solid, He’s probably NHL ready
– Ben Meyers shouldn’t be on this roster. He must be there for leadership, ice time, working on stuff the front office wants. Step ahead of everyone. In a few words describe him as a smart, 2 way NHL caliber center. I could see him being top 6 at some point
– Olausson looks good. He has a hell of a shot. He put on some weight, might need another year in the AHL but like what I see
– Ranta looks like he’s figuring out things defensively BUT … he has the tools, used his size and speed well was impressed in that regard. He might be able to make this team as a bottom 6 (next year).
– Cameron Wright impressed me. He’s not the biggest / fastest / most gifted but he makes things happen on offense when he’s out there. He jumps into plays, has offensive bite, creates… I like it. Will def be an impact player for the Eagles this season
– Zhuravylov looks good. I like him, he’s a bigger/stronger version of Sam Girard. Looking forward to seeing more of him
– Nagy, Klassen, Tardiff, Fizer all played well but look AHL caliber (for this year at least)
– Was a bit disappointed in Foudy / Beaucage. Both just didn’t contribute much in this game. Foudy kept making passes to player on the kings and Beaucage kept turning over the puck
Overall I don;’t think our defense was very good in this game. We struggled to clear the zone, defensemen kept getting burned, a lot of open lanes
– All aside its a rookie tourney. Love seeing these guys get a shot to make the team. Glad they finally put names on the back of the jerseys so we know who they are. Broadcast quality was good for once. AHL stream quality, commentators were great, knew all the players that had the puck, they weren’t annoying
Big one tomorrow at 8pm mt, hope we get the same stream again, seemed like it was an LA broadcast
