I like this!!
Nice add. Very intrigued by Milano. Sutter probably has a good view on this player with his time in Anaheim
Surprising he only got a PTO
Someone tell me how to feel
Why is Milano so slept on? I haven’t seen much of him, but from what I saw of him with Zegras, I was quite impressed. What’s the knock on him?
I’m absolutely fine with him joining on a PTO. That way he still has to show he’s worth it and honestly I think he’s a far better option than Eakin. Once again though I’m worried this could lead to less playing time for our young kids
Wow this is super fascinating actually.
14 goals and 34 points last year in 66 games. Still only 26… not sure why he didn’t get picked up, at worst he’s a solid 4th line RW. I loved him coming out of the draft though so I may be biased.

Been waiting awhile for them to announce something about this guy!! 🔥🔥
Pelletier not getting a spot for free, that’s for sure.
Personally I don’t think Eakin ~~isnt~~ is getting a contract, I think he’s just here as a warm body.
Oops this was supposed to be a response to another comment
OH MY GOD ITS HAPPENING EVERYBODY STAY CALM
When I watched him at the world juniors I thought he was going to be a star. Can’t believe we are signing him on a PTO today! Really hoping for the best.
It’s just a PTO, but Milano was about as sheltered as you can get last season. No way he puts up near 34 points if they sign him.
Oh shit!
I like this.
From articles I have read.
Milano had Torts as a coach back in Columbus. Milano was not liked by Torts. Murrey (who now works with the Flames) was responsible for bringing him from Columbus to Anaheim. So there is someone in the Flames organization that knows and likes the player.
Milano’s underlying possession numbers are good. His defensive zone exits are poor. But maybe Sutter can work some magic. He drives possession and has speed. Could be the playmaker the second pp needs.
Not sure where he would slot in though. Would be sweet if he had mojo with Mange.
Oh nice.
I don’t know much about him, but jFresh seems to say he’s pretty alright. Hopefully he does well.
Weird. I thought Milano was a young stud on the Ducks.
For a lot of people (myself included) its hard to think of Milano without thinking of Zegras which I think hurts people’s perceptions of him. To break that mental connection I just binge watched a bunch of his Columbus goals.
My new take: He’s creative. He’s not afraid to shoot. He’s got some serious hands. He’s got good wheels. He seems to find a way to be where the puck is going. He can take advantage of sweet setups, but can also score in less than ideal conditions.
Obviously since I was watching highlights I’m only seeing the good stuff, but I really liked what I saw.
With the right line, he could do really well. It will be interesting to see what comes of the PTO.
They probably have a contract in place but need to move some money out first
Ya baby! Praise Scortch! 🔥 🔥
What line y’all think this guy will end up on? I wouldn’t mine seeing him with kadri and mangiopane
Aw man this is such a great summer!!! ZERO DOG DAYS!!!
Totally cool with PTOs and contracts for guys like this. I just hope we don’t build him up into a top six player when he’s really a bottom sixer.
We did it with guys like Dupuis and good lord did he suck.
I’m glad they brought him in on a PTO and am hopeful he can earn a 1 or 2 year contract at a fair rate. He would be such a high risk signing this offseason that I am glad they’re mitigating any risk associated with him.
High reward low risk pto. Has offensive skill, and if he can at least be serviceable defensively it’s another steal of the off season.
And the ‘Lers signed Virtanen instead. Perfect.
Another great job to close out the Summer of Brad.
If he earns a spot I don’t mind. No way to know whether or not last season was a Zegras related fluke
Should be worth noting that Sutter is familiar with Milano since he was a consultant with the Ducks from 2019 to 2021. Seems like a low risk, high reward signing if we can hide his flaws, I have a better feeling about his odds making the team over Eakin.
Not one of us would have expected that JG would turn into a decent two-way player under Sutter.
In an interview, when a reporter asked JG about his increased defensive abilities, JG replied, « you cannot score if you do not have the puck. » (paraphrased)
If Milano can improve his two-way game and play in the top 6, he would make a lot more money on his next contract. That should be a good incentive for a guy on a PTO.
Why has he only been offered a PTO? I didn’t watch much of Columbus or Anaheim but my understanding is that he’s a regular NHLer. I know he had that assault charge a couple years ago, so is this a factor?
This is good news, though I am a little surprised he is still available and that this is just a PTO.
The guy isn’t a superstar, and it doesn’t appear he ever will be, but he isn’t exactly chopped liver either.
He is a young middle six winger who is far from the worst in the league in that role.
