“The Joe” was built (opened?) in 1979? Wow! Thought it was older than that. D. Hasek was always amazing to watch-I think he was a gymnast in a previous life.
Video is awesome, but 20 ads is a bit much
Thanks for posting this. I love the Red Wings, and Steve yzerman is my favorite athlete of all time. Going to the Joe was something special
What a great video. I loved it.
Great video, shame the ads every 3 minutes ruined it! Like wtf, never experienced a video with so many consistent ads.

Darren's son was celebrating his birthday and he asked Dad to get a goal.
Darren gets 3 !
Motivation is an amazing thing
I feel like the Red Wings are a family driven team. All of the hall of famers who have played for the Wings say playing in Detroit was the greatest time in their career, and its a fact. There are so many inspirational stories that come out of Detroit. And The Red Wings never disappoint, now they are on to their next major story and Hall of Famer Stevie Yzerman is currently working on building a powerhouse team, and I'm telling you all right now, it will happen. The Red Wings will be in your town in the not so distant future, and they will be knocking your team out of a playoff game. Detroit Red Wings always rewrite history, and i'm not even a Wings fan, and I can already tell you, they will be doing it again. It's just built into that franchise. I see people clown on the red wings because they are going through a rebuild right now. But at the end of the day the wings will get the last laugh. I'm telling you right now in the next few years, Detroit will wreak havoc in the NHL. It is coming.
I was the first person to say when Shanahan got here we started winning Cups. I remember the trade vividly. A few friends of mine were disappointed and I told them no, this is a great trade. This is the one thing the Wings were missing.
JOE LEWIS ARENA and the players and people that made it come alive was the era of hockey I grew up with. SO MUCH LOVE for THE JOE!
Thankful I got to play here before the doors shut for good
I’ll never forget that night . In 97 the Red Wings vs Avalanche was a WWF night !
NHL, thank you for doing the Wings justice with this. I love my Wings.. it's such a great organization & fanbase we have. I believe you really captured that here.
The amount of ads on this vid is actually sickening. Good vid but.. DISLIKE
Its all over now, unbelievable…we never keep our historic buildings
Its a empty lot, they haven't developed the land yet.
What a fabulous video. Good job putting this together.
Austin's got McMahon Austin's got McMahon
It was a magical dump!
More and more and more commercials. Sad
I'm not a Red Wings fan but I enjoyed watching this because I love hockey. Little did I know that David Kaye was the Narrator until the end.. 😅
this really hits in the feels. in 2002, and again in 2008, i rocked my baby daughters to sleep watching the Wings win the cup. My older daughter especially will always tie into my love for the Wings.
It seems like when the Joe closed its doors the red wings lost their luster. That’s just what it seemed like to me anyhow.
Theres a video in your ads
Bob probers
5 million Jimmy Carter dollars. Year those were just YOUR dollars and only wroth about 3 million.

Ozzie saying Sergei could play every position looks into camera except for goalie 😂you guys I’m CRYING😂😂😂😂
went to the joe once when I was about 8 years old I think in the mid 2000s … I don't remember much of the game but I remember the horn and the crowd being so loud it shook my rib cage
RIP the GREAT Mr Mike Illitch. I live literally just around the corner from the original Little Caesars. It doesn't exist any more but there's a new one across the street now
Thanks for film!
How many commercials are necessary for a one hour program?
Greatest history about sport team i have ever seen.

Crazy it was building on the river with no windows. There was really no where to go pregame either. Great arena but it was outdated. How they got 91 in Chicago is crazy.
