  1. The Leafs 3rd line was created with the purpose of having a line that can make nothing happen. When the Leafs needed to shut the ice down and bring down the tempo they were your line.

  2. I think they want a 4th line that creates energy by hitting and keeping the other team in their own zone. Without sacrificing defense.

  3. I like Kerfoot, but it's the last year of his deal & only 750K in real money left owing after July 1st. 21/22 was a career year, so I don't see how the Leafs keep him, given the value of his 3.5M cap hit. A versatile guy who can play all through a lineup, play centre, solid D & kills penalties. Despite the negativity I read from some, about him having little value, I think he has definite value. I'd be surprised if he is in the opening day line-up. Robertson, McCann, Steeves, Abruzzese & others will benefit from another AHL year IMO. Assuming Kerfoot is dealt, the 4th line in my wish environment: Aston-Reese, Gaudette & Aube-Kubel. Fast, tenacious, hard on the forecheck, good D & some offense. 2nd line: Engvall/Jarnkrok, JT & Bill (who can play LW/RW), 3rd line Engvall/Jarnkrok, Kampf & Simmonds (who isn't done yet IMO). Hope I'm right.

  4. I like moving Kerfoot to Arizona for a 2nd, the cap space with Robertson into the top 6 gives us room to make adjustments throughout the season. We are going to need some deadline equity to make a move on what's needed.

  5. FOWARDS
    Aston-Reese-Matthews-Nylander
    Bunting-Tavares-Marner
    Kerfoot-Kampf-Jarnkrok
    Clifford-Aube-Kubel-Simmonds

  6. Robertson is NO GO for the 2nd line…. He's looking more and more like a bust ….trade him now with someone else to ensure cap space

  7. "Speed, energy and all-out adrenaline" ….. wasn't that the same description of Colin Blackwell?? Definitely rings a bell, but I guess for Leaf media this is something new, bright and shiny. Same end result my friends, first round exit. Will make playoffs DESPITE goaltending but points total will decline by 12-14 points.

  8. "Kamp, Engvall and Jarnkrok can do some serious damage on 3rd line" …. really? Are you serious …. I see each averaging 12G and 18A. That's not serious damage, it's below average for a 3rd line.

  9. New forward line-up sounds eerily like last years. Without Mikheyev you're losing speed and offence. Leaf goal totals will be down – you heard it here first!!

  10. If Bunting has a big year he will demand $3.5M AAV and Leafs will need to let him go – Dubas' cap space issues again need to find another bargain basement fringe player. With Matthews new contract coming up in 2 years and Marner in 3 years, cap space will continue to be an issue unless Dubas can find a sucker G/M to take Tavares off his hands.

  11. Counting on Engvall for a breakout season will not happen. When I first saw this guy, I thought he was smallish as he skates hunched over …. I thought he looked impressive skating furiously, but then I realized after a couple of months that nothing positive ever happened. This will be his last year with Leafs unless he gets at least 20G, 20A, has a physical impact and Leafs have playoff success. In other words not likely to occur so don't hold your breath.

  12. Blank cheque to Auston is correct, but you have to focus on what the cap will be in the next 3-10 years. With him and Marner's contracts coming up, even with Tavares dropping off Leafs will be fairly tight to the cap while those two are still with the Leafs. I still think Auston will move to the U.S. and there is nothing they can do about it – and he may take Mitch with him.

  13. Pierre Engvall is a speed skater and that is all.
Aside from that he’s trash. No way he’s on L2.
