  1. Bernier 4.5 is off to. Nemec and Luke are coming along. The biggest question mark is health, goalie and can they so

  2. I have not been optimistic about the team since Hall left but I think NJ is a good spot now. Brunette should fix the Powerplay, they have Strong center depth and enough Defensive depth that a top 4 RHD like Sevo is being pushed out without Hughes/Nemec on the team. If the offense is below league average again they have a serious issue with this core.

  3. Prediction: 5th in the Metro (miss playoffs)
Reasoning: If this team was in the west they would be making the playoffs no problem but Lindy is just not the guy to take them to the promise land and they just miss out due to having a sneaky good roster other than goaltending.

  4. Devils fans just want to see the team do a little better. None of us are expecting a huge push.

  5. get rid of blackwood worst every year sign Evan Rodrigues i think Mcleod could get zacha numbers from next year

  6. The fun thing about being a Devils fan is that even we can't really predict where they'd land. Could be good, could be bad…could be promising and trip somewhere in the middle and try to overcorrect themselves. Who knows, it's a crap shoot with them.
    I'm not a fair weather fan but…it gets frustrating…

I'm not expecting them to make it to the playoffs this year, I'm expecting them to actually improve and work on those improvements, and actually keep up with them so even if we don't make it, they actually showed to put effort into trying instead of crapping out halfway through.

  7. Part of the frustration last season was how strong the Devils were 5-on-5…but then how awful the goaltending wound up and how weak the power play was. The latter I think can be improved thanks to changes in coaching and some of the top players, but the former was SO bad last year that it effectively snuffed out any optimism that could've existed. Get this team just average goaltending numbers, though, and I think they knock on the door of the playoffs, even if this isn't the year they break through all the way, so fingers crossed for goalie health.

  8. New Jersey will make the playoffs this season, but only into the first round.

  9. New Jersey will be worse this season and win the draft lottery.

  10. you forgot the most important change! The new coaches are dazzling innovators. We going to have a real PK a real PP and a working defense!!!! Our goalies may be average but this year nico and jack are mature players
This year our defense is healthy and and top 15 with Dougie running the show.

It’s all on the coaches guys

  11. I would say 50-50 they make the playoffs this year depending on who’s healthy. If the main guys stay healthy, playing 70+ games each there’s a good shot for them but if not the lack the depth to contend for a wild card spot

  12. Zetterlund, is very much like Holtz except a larger frame surprised you didn't have him over Holtz

  13. I’m hoping the addition of Brunette will really help the PP. I think the real reason they brought him in though is if Ruff has a poor start to the season they can promote him right away

  14. I’ve lost faith in this team, I’ve spent too much money on this team to just keep watching them do the same thing, they will never be good until the team is sold

  15. " We are still in a development phase "
    – NJ Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald predraft 2022 (2 decades in to the "rebuild")

That is all you need to know. With such lofty expectations NJ will most definitely NOT make the playoffs yet again.

  16. Theyre not gonna be good enough to decide their own fate. e.g. compete at a level where they grab a top 2 spot in the metro. That said, I think they could be the biggest benefactors of a bad season from one of the aging powerhouses in the metro. Equally it will be interesting to see if any of the injury-laden teams like the bruins are able to start a season off strong, despite a diminished roster. I'm not going to expect any of that to happen though. Every year there is pontification the bottom will finally fall out on a team like the Caps or Pens, and then people remember that those teams are quite deep and talented despite their aging cores.

  17. Can’t forget about Dawson Mercer up the middle. He is our 3rd line guy and played incredibly well for that role

  18. If they simply improve their PP and goaltending to league average, they challenge for a playoff spot last year. That sums it up. Most of the team’s best players are under 24 and developing, which means they should only improve next year, especially on offense. I expect them to challenge for a wildcard spot, but likely miss.

  19. I love these videos. As a hockey fan, I think we need more content like this. As for the topic at hand, I think the Devils are more balanced this season than in the past and finally have a decent mix of veterans and newcomers. I'd love to see them contend for a playoff spot and take a big leap forward. Are they cup contenders? Of course not. But as a fanbase we need to see steps forward.

  20. If you're reading this comment, you are tougher and more aggressive than two-thirds of the Devils' roster. Even in today's less physical NHL, the Devils are embarrassingly timid.

Devils u87½ points for the season is a great wager if you're willing to bet.

  21. On a side note, aside from me shitting on the Devils, just want to say that you do a very, very good job with these videos.

  22. Great video. The thing a lot of people tend to forget is they were in the top 18 in danger shots allowed but were last in save percentage. If these goalies save at league average or within 2-3% (instead of outside 20%), they could surprise and be in a top spot. However, there has been numerous seasons in which the Devils have shown glimpses and have just collapsed after an injury or two.
