@Flyers de Philadelphie

I honestly don't care about the flyers [amazing jerseys btw] but as 5points said it's crazy when the west where all flyers fans that night can't imagine btw

  2. “The scariest and longest dick measuring contest” that’s a hilariously accurate way of describing the Cold War and the relationship between USA and Russia/USSR over the years lmao

  3. I am happy for the Flyers and for Canadian and American hockey fans who reveled in that victory. For me personally, the Flyers were extremely dirty, vicious, and shameful in that game and the fact the refs went along with it was a total disgrace. I would have rather they had lost. We know the NHL in those years allowed the most disgraceful team in history play a lowlife savage game of hockey and win a couple of cups. I have no problem with heavy hitting and lot of it, even team brawls which were a lot more genuine when the refs tried to break them up immediately instead of these one on one show cases where they let them go now, I actually do not find that so genuine or right. But the way the Flyers played, Shero and a host of thugs, that did not make hockey more exciting, more intriguing, more competitive or more anything except a black mark of embarrassment. 1972 Summit Series, Bobby Clarke purposefully swinging his stick at Kharlamov's ankle and breaking it… yeah, I get it, just win baby.

  4. All you idiots glorifying these thugs on skates know nothing what sports is all about

  5. What many forget is WHY the Broadstreet Bullies played the way they did. Up until the 70s they had the shit beaten out of them by everyone else on the ice, they got fed up and decided that now that they got more physical players it was time for retribution. It was very much a case of the little siblings growing up bigger than their bully of an older sibling scenario

  6. If you're interested in stuff like this go watch the Philadelphia Flyers Documentary broad street Bullys

  7. I believe hockey fans should be ashamed of the Flyer's cheap approach to that Russian series. The Flyers knew they didn't have what it took to beat the Russians with genuine playmaking skill and puck control. So they resorted to a cheap brand of hockey which I personally felt ashamed to watch. Hockey is a very physical sport. We respect that. But when you make it the central focus of your team strategy to bully and hurt other players, you embarrass yourselves and cheapen the reputation of hockey. Generally speaking, the whole hockey world marveled and respected the way the Russians played the game, but they didn't respect the Flyers for their macho bully tactics. That brand of hockey never honors the sport. I salute the teams that played the Russians clean and let the quality of their play earn them success.

  8. Whoops.. .. Unfortunately Russia won’t be playing anyone anytime soon.

  9. They walked into the lions den not knowing what to expect they've only seen film they knew the Flyers were rough everyone has a plan until they get socked in the mouth that's what happened here. The Flyers loved and hated with the weight of America watching they gave no ground and sent the Russians packing. Clarky wood carve you up like a peach pie and we loved him dearly

  10. The HC CSKA Moscow vs. Philadelphia Flyers game brings a WHOLE NEW MEANING the phrase, "Cold War."

  11. I think the Soviets were 5-2-1 on this trip. This game wasn’t important to them and they didn’t play goon hockey.

  12. That Soviet Dynasty only lost the '72 Canada Cup because the Canadians hunted them like animals. The Flyers beat them in '76 because they hunted the Soviets like animals. The 1980 US college kids were the only team to beat the Soviets by playing hockey

  13. Tried watching hockey highlights of today after watching the more physical play of this Era and ik which Era I found more fun to watch

  14. A year later the USSR National team with all of their all-stars mentioned in the video played a series of games against WHA teams. The Soviet jet lag team lost to the New England Whalers in their first game and then hammered the other teams including a 9-1 beat down of the champion Houston Aeros. But in the afternoon of January 7, the Quebec Nordiques (who had played the previous night in Hartford) won 6-1 in convincing fashion.

  15. I watched this game. It was the most brutal sporting event I’ve ever witnessed. I genuinely felt sorry for the Soviet players and I ended up despising the Flyer organization afterwards.
