If scheif decides to stay and play better he definitely deserves the C
He’s the last person the jets should make captain. In fact they should assemble a new management team & move off of guys like scheifele & wheeler. The organizational leadership needs to be changed from the top down & the roster needs retooling. If the jets want to do it right, they’ll take the next 2-3 years to reassemble the organization.
Ehlers deserves the "C" this guy is always "you know " ++++ everytime I hear him talk – it's annoying
Love how quickly Scheifele is just like "NOPE" when asked if he's going to miss playing Tkachuk. Honestly with the way the NHL works he wouldn't play him often either way. U either get him twice with him being in the other conference or thrice or four times with him being in ur division.
Give Pionk the C, he's been the most consistent and dependable guy on the team since coming over from the NYR. I have a Pionk jersey, would like to slap a letter on it. An A will do.
The reality is this team just lack on ice leadership, not just with words but with moving the puck. The jets have become a group of individuals who occasionally experience brilliance, but never as a unit. There's no continuity between 1st/2nd/3rd lines they all just appear to do their own thing. Pionk/Demelo are the only guys that in my mind still lead.
No Captain means either the Jets don't have faith in their current leaders or there are too many chefs in the kitchen, ego clashes, Mark has a bad reputation in the locker room as a bully and Wheeler didn't put an end to it, joined in the hazing actually. Neither is good for the team. Pionk is quiet, speaks when he needs to, leads by example on the ice, consistent, talented, dependable, he'd be a good Captain.

The whole captain thing is grossly overrated. You can easily lead a team by committee.
