  1. Waiting patiently for Alex Turcotte to get to the NHL. Looking at that 2019 draft it kills me to see the Trevor Zegras going to the Ducks at #9 and having an immediate impact while Turcotte is still in the minors.

  2. I want to know what this guys credentials are? Has he ever played hockey at all. Inquiring minds want to know.

  3. Canucks Vegas Kings three way race for third place. Nucks have the best goaltending but kings have better youth

  4. Great analysis, thanks for pisting the vid. Byfield will improve the most cuz he was impressive in training camp & pre-season when he broke his ankle; he will have 15-18 goals & 25-ish assists for 40 pts if not more. Sign Miley & Durzi ! Kaliyev will improve too. Glad they kept Grundstrom & Lemieux for toughness as the Kings need to be tougher for the playoffs. Get a big, tough D-man would help, on the L side.

  5. Huge fan of Fiala, Danault, Kopitar & Kempe. Iaffalo is also super tight, really stoked for this season, think I like em better than the Oilers at this point

  6. Still hurting that they did not put the Oilers away at home in Game 6. My pick as of today, 3rd place in Pacific and into playoffs.

  7. Alex Edler is expected to take on a 3rd pair/7th D role, with Walker expected to be the 2LD. Also, I would say a big exit that you forgot to mention was Olli Maatta who helped out significantly when almost every blueliner with experience was injured in March. We did some staff moves, with our special teams guy becoming our AHL head coach and bringing a person who boosted the Islanders PP by 5%. Things are looking bright and I am curious as to what young guys make the roster and if the nice line is able to keep up play after Arvidsson's injury.

  8. Very big difference between the roster late last year and the roster this year. They added a 90pt scorer, a healthy doughty, and the growth of Byfield, Kaliyev, and entire young D core.

Also… people sleep on the impact Trevor Moore has shown once he was moved to the 2nd line with Danault and Arvy.

  9. Clague, Vilardi, Kupari, Turcotte and Byfield. 5 years of 1st round picks and not one of them is an impact regular.

  10. Moore, Kaliyev, Lizotte, Grundstrom and Durzi. Not a single first round draft pick among them and all are impact regulars.

  11. Love the Kings. I see a great year coming up. No Cup win, but a very strong season with much improved special teams play. The goaltending will be the big question. 👑 👑 👑

  12. So happy to see you give Trevor Moore some love. He lead the league in SHG’ last year too! Love that guy

  13. we took edmonton to 7 and that was without doughty or arviddson plus we added fialia. I think the kings could be very good this year especially if some of the young pieces like byfield and kaliyev take a step this season

  14. Prediction: 2nd in the Pacific
The best prediction I made in 2021 was saying the kings would make the playoffs this past year, and with their additions in the off-season along with the development of the young guys along with a weak Pacific, I say they're the best team after Edmonton and this time will be hosting a game 1

  15. I think the Kings overachieved last year. I see them taking a step back.

  16. Petersen has to wrestle the starting job from Quickie in a convincing manner. Otherwise Quickie can only take the Kings as far as he can go given his age in regular and playoff seasons.

  17. I think LA has built well. Their AHL affiliate has legitimate depth. LA still made the playoffs and took Edmonton to 7 games without 2 key players, 9 rookies, no power play, and can't kill a penalty if the other team gave them a head start in the offensive zone.

That being said the depth was well crafted because their minor league team plays the same system and is run exactly like LA is. Guys can step in from Ontario and fit right in.

The Kings survived and even excelled because they play a well crafted 2 way system 5 on 5.

The system won't change next season. It should improve seeing as the team is gaining more experience. Next season LA takes another step forward.

  18. For someone who covers all teams, I am always pleasantly surprised at how knowledgeable you are about the Kings. You actually understand more of the under the radar players (cal Peterson, Kaliyev, Moore) and don’t just stick to the players everyone knows (quick, Kopitar, Doughty). Your tales are always thoughtful and measured. Thanks for the great coverage!!

  19. Excellent job as usual. I follow the Kings extremely closely and the one very major issue you failed to touch on is left defense. As it stands now according to Blake they are planning on using Walker coming off a major injury to play on his off side on defense (Walker is a right shot). The other left defenders are Edler (extremely long in the tooth) and Anderson. Bjornfot is there, but unless the Kings have some injuries they would have to send some pretty good talent through the waiver wire. Therefore Bjornfot is likely to have to start the season in the AHL Ontario. Moverare (LD) will likely be the 7th defenseman because he isn't waiver exempt.

  20. Probably 100-105 points and finish top 3 in the pacific. I think they are capable of winning any 1st round matchup besides Colorado.
Byfield being a great 3C, Peterson/Quick both having a positive SAE, and Doughy playing 82 at a high level this year would make me confident they could be serious contenders the following season.

  21. Just remember that Byfield was injured last year, and it does take time to heal ankle injuries. He will definitely come back. Kopitar also needs to step up.

  22. Ima be honest Shannon, LA should’ve kept rebuilding. They were drafting so well! Danault is a good player, I like him a lot but he’s the reason why Byfield’s development isn’t gonna be as quick as we expected. I just didn’t think the signing made sense based on the direction they were going including with the Arvidsson trade. They should’ve just let Byfield in the 2nd line, let him develop & get those lottery picks for 2022 & 2023. If they picked up another defenseman or winger in the top 10 this yr & hopefully ended it with Bedard or Michkov in 2023, talk about a juggernaut. I just think these past moves ruinned potentially something special.

  23. Anderson and Durzi still need to be signed, a move will have to happen to re-sign both players

  24. Don't forget a big change for the Kings is the "loss" of Marco Sturm from the coaching staff. He is moving over to be the coach of the Reign. This ends up being a huge thing because he was in charge of special teams play. Hopefully the new hiring of Jim Hiller, hopefully the PP, PK, and pulled goalie situations can all improve.

  25. One thing to keep in mind with LA is that they managed to make the playoffs and have a fairly decent year while being absolutely battered from an injury perspective. If they come back healthy and make some improvements they could make a serious contender for a playoff spot

  26. The biggest difference maker for our Kings is having Doughty back, he makes our goalies better and controls the flow of the game. If a couple of our young stars show up we could take the division and go deep into the playoffs.

  27. The Moore-Danault-Arvidsson line was the best line for the Kings last year. If their first line (probably Kempe-Kopitar-Fiala) can be as good then their scoring could be top 15 in the league for sure
