  1. I love these jerseys and while I think black pants would look better on the home set I still dig the all teal look. I already ordered a teal Meier jersey baby

  2. I think San Jose struck gold with their away kit. It's super simple but it allows for the complexity of the logo to be the focus.

    Great vid Neil 🙂

  3. So called fashion experts: Teal is so 90s it needs to die"

    Sharks: "FULL TEAL AHEAD!!!"

  4. I think the teal pants are fine on both kits. Honestly, the sharks have always had black pants, the teal pants are the only think that make these uniforms look strikingly different from previous years. I know the jersey is different, but is it? Really? Also, I’m for anything that adds more bright colors to NHL uniforms. I know that’s odd to say as a Penguins fan that hates when the team wears blue, but it’s a Pittsburgh thing, all our teams are black and gold. I love the colors everywhere else. Loved when the Avalanche switched to blue pants, loved when Calgary and Buffalo switched to the bright red and blue respectively, love when I heard that Edmonton is going back to their traditional Blue away from the navy. I like an NHL with bright colors, anything that gets away from the looks of the late 90s and early 2000s when every team wore black or navy

  5. Those definitely aren't laces from an Adidas jersey, because the laces on an Adidas jersey are too short to even tie them.

  6. Seems like this year the Sharks decided to downgrade both their roster and their uniform 🤣🤣🤣

  7. That's a lot lof Teal and I like the uniform but that's a lot of Teal maybe some Black Pants to brake it up 🤔

  8. when football teams wear all one color everybody loves it. why no love for all-teal?

  9. I’m going to give the all teal a chance… but I don’t like what I’ve seen so far. The away looks great though

  10. Pre-ordered the road jersey with Ben H, might have to wait a couple more months, but will be cheaper than buying it from the team store……

  11. thats what ive been saying tho the logo color doesnt seem to match ill be getting the away one most likely i have the old home the stealth and the hockey fights cancer one

  12. I hope the fans don't go overboard clamoring for black pants on the home set up. I think the teal pants look great and black pants are too much black. I think both home and away are home runs.

  13. Teal pants don't look bad on home, but black or gray would be better.
But they are probably considering a pair for both home and away. Teal on road uniform pants is a win.

So tbh, I'm fine with it

  14. Neil, if you haven't yet, go to the Sharks youtube channel and watch the 'Evolve' Uniforms Live Unveil video, at the 41 second mark Couture in the home jersey and Reimer in the away uniforms actually skate out on the ice, and it shows them actually in motion on the ice. I think they're at the new Barracuda arena so I don't know how that lighting compares to the tank or photos, but it might give you a better view than still images. Then comeback and read my long answer to your question about the logo color and lighting.

To answer your question about the logo, watching the evolve video again, it looks like the logo might have a little bit of a metallic sheen look to it, but could also just be lighting. Though the old jerseys had that looking like a different color too. I think that's what you get when you have teal. In some lighting it looks more blue, in other lighting it looks more green. I mean watching the Sharks on different tvs and different arena lighting makes it seems like different colors. Just search photos online and you can see one photo but based on the lighting, camera, exposure and stuff makes it look different more blue some and more green in others. When they play at SAP they uniforms look dark green almost.

I have not been able to see these in person and I don't have any sharks jerseys new or old, but I have two Sharks shirts bought at the Sharks store in the arena that are gray, and they have the Sharks logo on them and the teal on those is the official color and it's definitely more of a blue color. About 6-7 years ago the Sharks did a video on the inception of the Sharks for their 25th anniversary. The video is fantastic and it used to be on youtube might still be able to find it.

In the video they talk about how the came up with the color scheme. I don't remember it word for word, but basically their only requirement was some shade of blue. They had no secondary color picked out yet. They talked with jersey manufacturers and apparel companies to find out what color they had available for the next 20 plus years and the companies all came back with teal. The organization was hesitant to use teal at the time because of possible connotation with it being seen as "girly" or more a feminine color or something.

They decided though that it was a great way to get women interested in the game. They realized if they paired it with a dark color like black, then guys were interested in it to. I don't know for sure, but I think they chose gray because thats what color a shark typically is. They named it Monterey gray because Monterey, California (about 72 miles south of San Jose) is home to one of the biggest Aquariums in the US. Not sure if the Monterey Aquarium has any big sharks at that time in the 90s.

I remember as a kid seeing that teal blue, black and gray color on a jacket with the Sharks original wordmark and asked for it for my birthday and got it and loved it. That teal blue was just such an interesting color and as a 12-year old with adhd anything sharks was shiny. I still have the shiny thing today, if it's teal and shiny and I have money – I'm probably going to buy it.

  15. I have been a lifelong fan of the San Jose Sharks and personally I'm glad there isn't a lot of orange. If you ask, most Sharks fans they don't even like orange as a secondary color. Gray is preferred.

I don't understand why people are making such a big deal about all teal?? So what.

Detroit wears all red, Minnesota wears all green, Tampa Bay, Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Toronto wear all blue but you don't hear people complaining about it.

San Jose owns teal so good on them. These new jerseys are way better than the ones currently used. There is no turquoise on this uniform. It's straight up teal.

  16. I didn’t like these uniforms very much, but here are some thoughts which helped change my mind…

    1. The Calgary Flames have all red home uniforms and I personally think they look great during the games. So, I have confidence to think that these will too. Right?
    2. There have been a lot of changes and in the sharks management and dressing room. These uniforms signify a new era . We can evolve and move on into the future of building a strong team again. A new identity.
    3. I think it’s cool that they took a chance with these. San Jose is in the heart of innovation in terms of tech and I think they take pride in that forward thinking mentality. I think more teams will see these uniforms and maybe transition their uniforms to this style too. This could be a trend setting uniform and the sharks would be at the heart of it. How cool would that be?
