Dallas overpaid for a player that wanted out. He was never going to play for the Rangers-If the Rangers got a second-round pick, or a decent prospect, ok, But a pick that could be in the 20 range in the first round is a real good return.

Major win for NYR. Disaster of a pick and they get a mulligan on it. Pick will probably be 11-20 range in a very deep draft.
gonna be interesting. Dallas already have 6 solid defenseman and they paid a first for a unknown. I feel like maybe one of Lindell or Suter will get traded but they both have nmc so it is gonna be interesting
Isn’t it a conditional (top 10 protected) 1st and 4th. The 4th could become a 3rd if he gets 55 points in his first 2 season. With the 1st, if Dallas ends up in the top 10 in this draft then the 1 becomes a 2024 1st with no restrictions
Dallas needs forwards badly they have been pretty much CARRIED by Robertson of late with the old guy also on that line helping with his hockey IQ but after that Roope Hintz also on the line they have underachievers in Benn and Seguin and can't find a spot for Gurianov.The good news "maybe"is i couldn't believe how fast their prospects look a bunch of speedy little guys.The problem there however is you need more grit and toughness to be a cup contender especially for playoff hockey.A perfect example is Gurianov is a great skater and is decently skilled but the Stars have nobody to play with him.
Stars fans have to hope Stankovan and Wyatt Johnston can bolster the offense soon they really need to replace a washed up Benn and Seguin.Giving up a first round pick for a position that imo they did not need is a bad move by management.I seriously can't stand when i hear a team needs a Right or left D man…seriously?One D man you don't have ANYONE in the system and why can't a pro player play his off side?IMO that first round pick should have went for a forward not a D man.
Furthermore just like the mistake the Habs have done showing their hand that they wanted a R D man the NYR showed their hand in that Nils wanted out so no team in the league should be giving the NYR a first round pick for a player that wasn't going to be playing.IMO they dangled that offer to the Habs who obviously would say not a chance in hell so they then turned to Dallas and said ok he is yours for a 1st and Dallas management got fished in. albeit a Dallas first round is worth much less than a Habs 1st round pick.
IMHO, the Stars overpaid for Lundkvist, but I hope it works out for him and them–He should get more of an opportunity in Dallas, the Rangers are overloaded with D-men.
Rangers now have a pick to give Chicago when they trade for Kane. Hawks want Laufranier. Think Kane would put the Rangers in the Finals and Kane would give the Rangers a chance to beat the Aves. Otherwise every team is just spinning there wheels. Aves will two pete. Barring injury of course.
Amazing news for Dallas and Nils, this is a big steal. Conditional first for a future top pairing defender is nothing.
