  1. I find it funny that in trading one of their best defenceman to the Blackhawks, Columbus got almost there entire future defence core in return

  2. "Dear Mr Werenski,
We in the Columbus fanship would like to commend you for your awesome play. You are truly a talented defenseman. However, it has come to our attention that your line mate that had been selected in the Seth Jones departure is currently playing on your defensive line aiding in your ability to make awesome plays. We, as Columbus fans, must insist that you hand over a good chunk of your contract to your defensive partner to try and keep them on Columbus. I'm sure you understand and very much appreciated. signed Columbus Fan." lol

  3. Seth Jones sucks. And we keep is brother to hold his hand. The Hawks thought one more run at the cup. Nolan Allan blows to. But Bovquist is not all that either.

  4. This Jones contract is what Nurse used in negotiations as a comparable to screw the Oilers for 9.25m AAV

  5. Literally JUST Boqvist is better than Seth Jones in my mind, this is an absolute FLEECING
Edit: I didn't mean he's better now I mean he will be better in the future, especially with that steal of a contract

  6. It’s going to be a long season in Chicago.Toews and Kane will both want out. They may not publicly say anything, but they will ask management to move them.

  7. The feel of the fall of the Roman Empire (The Blackhawks became dynasty after winning multiple Stanley Cups).

  8. I think Seth Jones is honestly Overhated. His contract is bad but he’s still a very good player. And his analytics were very good. I don’t know where you get your analytics from but the ones I saw were very good (90th percentile WAR)

  9. In all fairness the salary cap killed the Hawks , just like it will for the Lightning eventually. As a cbj fan thank you Stan Bowman unfortunately we will never see the likes of you again

  10. This is stating the obvious, but with the money they saved on Jones they were also able to sign Gaudreau.

  11. So happy we kept Z and moved on from Seth. Poured gasoline on our rebuild and now we are on the cusp of being very competitive again.

  12. The last couple of years of the Stan Bowman Era CANNOT! be attached to the current GM and coaching staff.
The current Blackhawks will still feel the tentacles of the prior management group for a couple years to come but Kyle Davidson is trying to right the ship.
Seth Jones is one of the worst trades I've seen in many, many moons. Many…lots of moons…..all the moons, I was screaming at the TV and it ruined my 2021 Draft.

Seth Jones IS a good NHL player. Apparently a Top 4 D-Man.
He is not a trash bag.
But he's not worth his AAV.
Maybe, if he has a meteoric rise with a terrible team, give him the Norris. (jk)
His signing sucks the most because he was a Hail Mary by Bowman and now he does not fit this team's plans going forward, but his contract is almost impossible to move so I say just enjoy the fact the Hawks have at least one really good defender.
Not great. Not really a transcending Super-duper Star.
But really good. Grade B possible B+ if he shows out. But he is about to go through a really rough year team wise.
    All that said
    …..Go Hawks!!!@

  13. Do think sometimes people forget how hard it is to find a legit #1 two way Right Handed defenceman that has the size of Seth Jones. They're usually resigned by their current teams and who knows if you'll get one to develop through the draft. Columbus is still looking for his replacement and praying Jiricek or Boqvist can step up in the next year or two.

  14. I wonder if the Edmonton oilers would consider trading a package for Seth Jones. Of course, the Blackhawks would have to absorb 25% to 50% in the deal for it to work. Clearly, Oiler's problem has been defense. for quite a while, they need Seth Jones's talents over a Patrick Kane..

  15. Yes, this trade is a disaster for Chicago, but the truth is Chicago should have started their rebuild two or three years ago but were in denial. When Jones informed Columbus he was not interested in an extension he gave them a list of 3 teams he'd accept a trade to. Dallas was not interested as they could not make the trade work with their cap situation. Colorado was interested, but only for one year as they did not want to extend Jones. That left only Chicago. The Hawks knew they were the only team in the running and should have told Columbus "Here's Boqvist and a #1, see you later". At that point Columbus would have had to decide if they wanted to hold on to Jones until the next trade deadline or take what they could get. But nope, the Hawks made a big overpayment offer and Columbus took it and ran.
The three defenseman in this trade (Bean, Boqvist and Jiricek) still have a lot of developing to do. We know what they can be, but will they get there? Sillinger looks solid and hopefully the Jackets rebuild is short compared to most. My only regret about the trade is that Stan Bowman hasn't been hired as the Penguins GM.

  16. Seth Jones and Darnell Nurse contracts are among one of the worst defenseman contracts out there.

  17. The Seth Jones trade is a legendary fleece, and if CBJ wins a cup with this new core, it will go down in history.

  18. As a cbj fan I have never been happier with jarmo. I truly think 4-5 years from now people will be talking about how jarmo turned this team from a complete trainwreck into a powerhouse, every move he has made in the past 3 years has been great for us and our prospect pool is amazing:
    Sillenger
    Chinakov
    Johnson
    Jiricek
    Mateychuk
    Marchenko
    Ceulemans
    Blakenburg
Just to list my personal favorites. This team could not have sustained half of these D guys had they signed jones long term. Not to mention they wouldn’t have the cap for Gaudreu, Laine, or Werenski.

  19. Since His Brother Caleb Jones Sign A Minor Deal To The Chicago Blackhawks Got Sent To Rockford Icehogs

  20. Pretty much said it in your video, you potentially replace Jones with Jiricek who is cheaper and younger, probably 2-3 years away but no rush. Plus on top of that you get a 2nd line or maybe even a 1B center in Sillinger and then 2 solid upside defensemen who at the very least have trade value when Ceulemans and Mateychuk start forcing their way onto the team.

I know this video is about the Chicago trade but in less than a year he turned Jones, Dubois, Foligno and Savard into Sillinger, Jiricek, Bean, Boqvist, Ceulemans, Laine, Roslovic. It also shed a lot of money which made them an option to sign Gaudreau. Of course that caused Bjorkstrand to be a cap casualty and thats pretty devastating.

Basically turned a percieved no win situation into a major win

  21. As a die-hard CBJ fan, I am ECSTATIC with the Seth Jones trade. We absolutely got the best of this deal.

  22. The remarkable thing is that Chicago traded and paid Seth Jones and then tore the rest of their team down.

  23. I’m a CBJ STH and was never a real fan of Seth Jones. What sealed my opinion was in Game 1 of the 2019 1st round playoff game vs Tampa Bay when he lazily turned the puck over and allowed an easy breakaway goal…which unfortunately has become his MO. You’re absolutely correct that CBJ overwhelmingly won this deal.

  24. Jones was phenomenal in his play in the season where Columbus made the 2nd round against Boston. Then suddenly his play fell off and Werenski was clearly the more notable / consistent #1.

We traded Jones and a late first for essentially 4 top 13 1sts – Boqvist was 8th, Bean (thru the 2nd rounder we got) was 13th, sillinger at 12th, Jiricek at 6th. That kind of return is something you get when a bad / below average team offer sheets an RFA. Still have lots of time to develop these guys and maybe Jones can resurrect his career, but hard to say we'd want him back after the assets he returned

  25. Does Jarmo not get that the MOST IMPORTANT position on any Hockey team is centre ice?!?!? I get that defensemen are "The thing" right now, (just like Goaltenders in the 90's), But the one irrefutable fact about building a Hockey team has never changed…YOU NEED AT LEAST TWO GRADE "A" CENTRES!…..Or you will NEVER win a cup….It's like Colubus is allergic to centres or something…They NEVER go all in to get the top quality centres any team needs to win. Yeah they got a lot of quality assets in that trade….but they turned them ALL into defensemen!…..Serriously, these GM's make their job harder than it needs to be. It's ALL about getting talent and depth at centre, after that, THEN it's time to stack the defence. Wingers and Goalies you can get through trade or F.A signings……But NOBODY is going to trade you a top quality centre, you HAVE to draft one! Defence is so overrated now in the NHL it's not even funny.
