Khudobin's 3.3 is on LTIR so Dallas has more than 6.3m to play with.
Edit: There's also Hintz to consider, he's an RFA next summer.
ditching dobby and faksa could easily allow them to tie up robertson and be able to tie up hintz next year
ditching seguin and/or benn, although it would help the cap, would be a big culture shock in dallas
These GMs continue to sign themselves into a corner capwise. The cap is flat, and the Canucks just signed a guy going into his 30s to an $8 million, 7 year contract. They'll give all the top guys what they want, even if they're wildly overpaid, and then figure it out from there. Someone has to shut down the other team's star players. Unless you want to overwork your stars into checking roles, you can't vastly overpay your top guys and have borderline NHLers to fill out your roster. Dallas may have the cap to sign Robertson this year, but I can understand why they're being careful. The cap isn't going up, but salaries, especially for the top guys who have only one or two good seasons behind them, are. You're ending up with very top-heavy teams and that hurts the overall product. As time goes on, we'll have more and more stretches where nothing is really going on because the top guys aren't on the ice and coaches are telling their checkers to just play it safe and don't make any huge mistakes. The cap really hasn't lowered or stabilized salaries. It's just led to an inconsistent product.
He’s a RFA. Does that play into them not signing him? Do they get to keep him another year as a RFA? Offer him a deal after the season?
Knee injuries!!!! The worst ever
If Dach is worth 3.5 then what do you pay this guy 9 ?
Disagree with the injuries as they should be Knee, Hip, Ankle but also lets state this depends on the severity of the injury.
As a Stars fan, I think that a 3 year, 7 million dollar deal is the best and most realistic contract.
One of the reasons no one is talking about it here in the Dallas area is because it's a football area. Not a whole lot of interest in Hockey until the season starts and the begin to play well. Not sure if a trade to free up some money is a great idea this season. They almost didn't make the playoffs and taking out one of the guys that helped get you there could cause more harm than good.
If Robertson could prove be can score WITHOUT Joe Pavelski then I would give him that nice contract. Until then, I think he's over rated.
God, I'm tired of people making excuses for Seguin and Benn. They've been washed for many years now, even before the injuries. At this point, they're overpaid third liners. Nill shouldn't have a job because of those two contracts.
Also we can't get rid of Benn or Seguin because they both have full nmc and Benn sure as hell ain't going anywhere and Seguin won't go anywhere that isn't a major cup contender
Dallas does have multiple problems.
They lost Raffl and Namestnikov and replaced it with Marchment with extra 3 million and we will see if he can replace this two players.
Plus Roope Hintz gets only paid 4.5 and potentially plays better then Robertson next year .So paying Robertson more then 7.5 is a big risk as everyone agrees that also next year both Benn and Seguin will not play according to their contract
I think a short term contract makes sense – perhaps even some sort of bonus as the end of the contract. Robertson is obviously amazing, but he cant be sure that he'll have the same success on another team so it is a gamble for him to try his hand elsewhere. He's got a really good thing going with Pavelski and Hintz.
Love seeing the diversity in your panel, so brave and stunning!
Anaheim should give Robertson an offer sheet. End their rebuild much earlier.
I don't know where to ask this question really that enough people will see it but this video had a lot of views!! Lol
I'm very new to the podcast world and sdpn says they do new episodes every Monday, Wednesday and Friday… however it's Monday at 2:21pm and I still don't see a video from Friday..
I see that the podcast usually gets to us on the next business day. Is there a way to hear the podcast the day of?
It just kind of seems like a waste to do a video on Friday and not post it till Monday cause a lot of it is old news by then.
