Prediction: 1st in the East (Presidents Trophy)
Reasoning: Litterally everywhere you look this team is loaded with talent, and they have a top 3 coach along with some young talent that can break through and make them even better. I think the pairing of Slavin and Burns is going to be up there with the best pairings in the NHL and I think once Patches comes back they'll be a wagon.
They should be conference finalists at the very least. But Idk about the goalies…..I just can't quite see them winning 4 rounds with that tandem. I like the players they picked up though, they have the classic balance of young and old.
Special teams was excellent in regular season, then totally flipped in playoffs. Need svech and KK to step up goal scoring and I think Canes will be fine.
A contending team, no doubt.
Definitely 1st in the Metro this year. While losing some pieces this off-season they definitely were able to gain some as well. It will probably be the same season for them again and they'll finish somewhere within 110-115 points.
I want to say one of the more hit or miss teams for me, but to speak of chemistry Brindamourium might be an element to add to a periodic table.
Anything less than playoffs is a failure. We need to get to the conference finals this year though…. getting to round 2 isn't enough anymore. Although, I really think that Andersen's injury keeping him out of playing in round 2 last season probably had a lot do with the game 7 exit at the hand of the Rangers more so than any other factor.
As a canes fan, I love the regular season success and certainly haven't forgotten that playoff hockey is a luxury, but it's time to get past the second round. Except for their first run to the CF in 2019 (even then, they still got eliminated in 4), they haven't been anything more than underachievers in the playoffs since. Conference finals is minimum for this team to consider themselves successful, and that's dependent on how they get eliminated (if they do).
Patches is unfortunately an appropriate nickname for Max when you really think about it. Deceivingly grindful player for his stature, needs a lot of patching up.
I'm not the most educated hockey fan and I only really started getting back into hockey this year because the avs are good. I fell off around 2016, with all the political bullshit we've been through in america, hockey took a backseat for me. It's cool to watch these videos and It's definitely expanded the range of teams I'm watching now.
I hope Freddie can win a couple rounds in the playoffs and shake the narrative around him. Will always love him, until he plays the Leafs lol
Cup is Carolina bound this year
Staal and Patch probably take pay cuts if they keep them. Opening up a few million for the younger guys.
I would love to see Necas at Center. His numbers on faceoffs are actually very good. He was drafted as a center. I think he will have a bounce back year. Last year he was asked to work on his defensive game. He did and was much better defensivly but I think that caused him to have less offensive punch. RBA used Necas at Center on the PP when Aho was out with Covid. That unit did well and was productive. I still don't understand why they didn't try that in the playoffs.
I love RBA but….. Insanity= Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. This was RBA in the playoffs. ZERO line up changes on the road and ZERO wins!!! Get Smith out of there and put in Bear!!!!! (Against the Rangers. You needed Smith for toughness against the Bruins) The PP was trash. CHANGE SOMETHING!!!!!!! Put Necas at center like he was when Aho had Covid. That unit produced. DeAngelo sucked on the PP against the Rangers. Actually he sucked the entire series. He let the Rangers and their fans in his head. Smith was just bad in that series. Changes should have been made that were not. RBA was outcoached against the Rangers.
Jarvis Elite
As a Vancouver fan… insurance goals are definitely needed to move on
Tare-aaaaaa-VVVVIIIIINNNNE-ennnnn!!!
Shannon's shoutout to Wade Minter was fantastic!
Brind'amour has to figure a way to stop the dumb penalties. Cost them the Rangers series.
Stastny signs after this and you forgot Brenden Smith in the exits and glad you didn’t mention the whole why behind Cole leaving 😂😂
