  1. They either sign ROR to an extension that's cap friendly or they lose him in free agency – he's a proven playoff performer and a lot of contending teams would risk giving him a 6.5 to 7 M for 3-4 yrs. The Blues would be lucky to get him under 6 million a yr. I would not be upset if they moved on from O'Reilly, but he's got a lot of intangibles that make him a valued player.

If the Blues were really trying to move Krug, there sure wasn't a lot of interest in his skill set around the league or at that price and length of his contract. Either way, he's still with St. Louis, and you've got a much younger player with a very similar skill set, and the potential upside that might be even better than Krug's offensive abilities. The problem is that Perunovich can't get the necessary ice time on a team that can't have them playing at the same time. That would be too much to ask of the other defensemen during the rigors of the regular season.

  2. This could be a very different looking team come next year. Vlady is more than likely gone, ROR could be gone and Krug and or Scandella will be moved if Army can find someone to take them. I don't think that they can lose yet another captain to free agency. Its a long season and a lot can and will happen, I am just glad to be talking St. Louis Blues hockey again!
