It seems that the canucks are a glutton for punishment they lose most trades, sign bad contracts and give away too many good draft picks it almost seems it's become thier mantra.
As an coyotes fan, this is a very bitter sweet trade, I’m happy about getting rid of that terrible OEL contract, and in return getting only one year of financial troubles. But the problem is like you said OhNyquist, Arizona’s going to be terrible for a long time, and it’s been long enough. Next couple years are definitely going to be painful from the eyes of a yotes fan
As a Canucks fan I hate this trade. Hate it. Should have just sucked it up for next year after drafting a good player and work with all that cap space next year. I 100% believe Arizona completely took advantage of a terrible GM in Jim Benning.

Of all the teams Arizona who were suspended and they forfeited their 11th pick but gets a 9th pick Vancouver overpaid Eriksson for 6 million for all these years and has done nothing and Vancouver is still paying Luongo's contract he's laughing to the bank Vancouver is comical they will be bad for many years to come if they keep screwing up in the entry draft
What I dont understand the Canucks were bottom dwellers all these years for a few years but the last 3 weeks of their season they start putting up wins and screwing up their chances to get a really good draft pick they could have gotten Patrick Lalime if they would just tank and passed on Tkachuk and picked Olli Juolevi who hasn't been playing and injured every year now this year no 1st round Canucks are losers
NHL needs to change their NHL Entry Draft format every team who doesn't make the playoffs has an equal opportunity to get the number one pick and so forth for the number 2 pick every team goes back in the lottery ball machine this way teams won't try and tank and deliberately lose so they are guaranteed at least 2nd overall and all teams are allowed up to three 1st picks in a decade so Buffalo and Edmonton are not allowed to pick number 1 overall until the next decade starts it's only fair to other teams
This also might be a backdoor promise to Petterson and Hugh's to make the team better now in exange for better deals on their contracts, if garland Hugh's and Petterson are all willing to take a little of what they may have otherwise asked for the OEL gamble may be worth it
Loui puts up 1-2 points a season and oel puts up 30+ with a bottom team I think the change of scenery and working with Patterson hughs and boeser will do him good
