  1. I’m sorry but that game was not Bob’s fault. To the contrary, he kept us in. I say that having been at the game and having hated Bob and his play since last season, but the loss was not on him. We were outshot and out-defended and outplayed.

  2. Thanks for hanging in for a vid! Hope you feel better today. That game sucked. I made a point to be down for warm ups- the energy was solid. I think getting those two penalties right away took some guys off their game mentally and they just did not manage to come correct. WE KNOW the officials don't always do a fair job- especially when its OVI or SYD on the ice. The 2nd rule book kicks in- a bias towards helping or seeing things that fall in favor of NHL superstars- to which we have none. Too many lapses in judgment on many players which caused too many errors and we paid for them. I did not want Eks and Weegs back together if Eks was back- that is a coaching decision, and I believe we were a bit out coached as well this game. Our lack of experience in playoffs is apparent. We were holding that 2-1 lead so tight it was choking me in the stands. If these guys can make a mental shift and coaching makes some changes (which i expect to see) then game 2 can be a fresh start. Focus on the details, win the board battles and everyone unpucker!!

  3. This team isn’t winning shit. Congrats on the presidents trophy. Caps in 6. Truthful, not negative.

  4. One thing that cost us last night other than the missed calls was the Power Play. I do not understand why are they still passing the puck??? Credit to the Capitals for always having a good PK, and boy did they dial it down. We had 3 power plays and we could not muster anything. If we can’t score on the Power Play then we are in huge problems

  5. I know your thoughts on Thornton and realize he is older and slows game down but this is why Management brought him in and he needs to be in lineup! He has a boatload of playoff experience in every situation, a veteran presence, physicality and a calming influence. On the bench he can be vocal and Steady the ship. Think it’s a mistake not to play him as the guy has been to multiple WCF and a SCF. I get you would have to take an effective bottom six guy out but think not having what he brings on ice and bench during playoff hockey is a mistake. He is not a playoff choker as winning a cup is a team success.

  6. Agreed! Sit Weegar’s ass for a game to reflect on his mistakes. We already shared our disagreements on Bob on the Tweeter lol, but the invisible offense and inexperienced coach need to figure out what needs to be done to get inside the Caps defense to test their goalie. And put Horny back on the PP! His blonde Swedish ass hair should be in that goalie’s face!

  7. Tough loss at home, gotta come out strong game 2 and not let the foot off Washington’s neck

  8. I fully agree with you on Weegar, he should not play anymore in these playoffs. I cannot agree with you on Bob, he played a great game yesterday and kept us in the game until Weegar decided to singlehandedly to completely screw the game.

  9. Caps fan here. I absolutely get the frustration you have for your teams play and the no calls. But this is just one game, and you guys are insanely talented. Taking a loss on home ice to the 8th seed after being ahead in the 3rd period, will be a wake up call, and I know you guys will be fired up Thursday. I would not be surprised if we get blown out game 2. I hope not of course, but I’m worried that you guys will go off. Here’s to a hopefully great series.

  10. 6:32 – That biscuit was dealt through his legs by arguably a top 3 passer in Backstrom (the best imo, but I’m biased). He is so good at dishing the puck, often highlight reel dishes, so don’t be too hard on your guys. Especially Bob, as he had no time to react since Backstrom put that puck on Oshie’s stick basically at the pipe. And Bob still almost got to it.

  11. I have never liked the "good on paper" guys. I don't know why people still do after seeing the team collapse a few years ago when we tried to maximize this strategy. You cannot model a good team with math if you do not collect all applicable data.

    Feel better, bud.

  12. From a caps fan don’t hang your heads I respect tf out of you guys and you guys scare me. Much love to you guys and good luck the rest the way.

  13. This goes for all sports! Analytics has no place in any playoff series!!!!! they serve their purpose for regular season, but how many times have we seen mishaps because we as humans forgot to use our god given intuition vs a computer algorithm.

  14. Hello Dad. I sorry you not feeling that great and the Panthers lost but the one thing we must do is hope for the best 🙂

  15. Toronto looked at a possible trade for Weeger in the last off-season (at least kicked the tires on him)… Glad we didn't pull that trigger.

  16. Sorry about your migraine.
As a Cap fan, I'm not gonna gloat. Every series is its own story. Don't look to the past. I hate when the media dredges up past records. One game at a time. One series at a time. Caps might not have #43 and #74 in game 2, not sure yet. Our goaltending is super sus. Bobs was amazing! He kept you in this game. On to game2. Hope it's a good game.

  17. Just like Fluff said he's been on Weegar all season. I've never been confident in Brunette. If they lose this series, he has to go. Bring in a good, experienced coach.

  18. Caps fan here. I'm guessing you missed all the non calls against the caps? Fehervary getting his stick held and he gets called, John Carlson catching a chicken wing to the jaw, and no double minor for drawing blood.

I saw missed calls both ways. Don't act like the refs are out to get you, because they aren't.

  19. Weegar was disaster, just cant understand what he was thinking, when team was changing lines. And the next goal was all about Montour stealing from defence, and Giroux was surffing in a situation. Playoff games need solid defence game, Weeger dosent provide that. But having said all that, i still think Panthers will win this series

  20. I had a couple family members get sick too when we went down to south Florida, guess there’s a big going around. Hope you get better.

About the game, I think everyone’s overreacting and completely jumping ship here. Remember guys, it’s game 1, plenty of hockey left to play. Now, did Florida play a terrible game? No I don’t think they did. The caps just played better in every aspect and had a perfect strategy for shutting us down and performed it perfectly. Yes, the weegar giveaway was deflating and it could be said that costed us the game, and there were other mistakes that the caps took complete advantage of.

But more importantly, and I think im an outlier with this opinion, I actually think the panthers tried to play “playoff hockey” and failed, because that style of play is just not their strong suit and it’s the capitals bread and butter. We willingly went into their territory that we know they’re better than us at and we failed. Look at the shot total, look at the chances, In a normal panthers game we would have outshot them by a country mile and generated way more chances. Look at hits, we out hit the capitals, that is no easy feat. We were clearly trying to play a tougher slower game and it just didn’t work. Not to mention everyone we try to generate offense we get smothered in the NZ by a 1-3-1 trap which can easily be countered by some adjustments, which weren’t made by Bruno.

Im gonna say something y’all will find wild here, but I think the panthers should just stick to what brought them success in the regular season and stop trying to play a slower tougher game. We aren’t going to beat the capitals that way, they’re a much more seasoned and tougher team that is more capable of that style of play. We are fast, we are younger, we have more depth, we can wear these guys out easily if we just leaned more into offensive possession. We need puck possession, because when we have more puck possession we win hockey games, we didn’t have that last night.

Anyways, feel free to tell me how wrong I am in the replies lol.

  21. Blah that game gave me PTS flashbacks to game 1 vs CBJ in 2019 plus we had one of those "lead in the 3rd period undefeated streak" records before we lost that game. …. but you guys will be alright. Also feel better.

  22. I gotta say I totally disagree with bobrovsky needing to be better. If you didn't have him this game it easily could've been a blow out.

  23. The only bright spot i can muster is that the mistakes are fixable but everything u said is spot on. We really may be a smoke n mirrors team and the more i think about it the more i think its true.. all the "were ready" interviews and "lets go" its all bullshit and goes right out the window when the puck drops.. you cant make this shit up, what gameplan are they thinking about when you give washington a 5 on 3 two minutes into the game?.. the second that happened its game over, cause if theyre that sloppy when the puck drops what would make them any better with 10 minutes left in the game

  24. Can't make the big save??? Bob was making great timely save all fucking night. He "let" in 3 goals on 37 shots… dude played out of his fucking mind.
