They sure do. They are too slow (compared to COL), and Nurse makes waaaay too much. His contract has handcuffed the G.M. but that us truly self inflicted. Darnell is not a top 10 d-man making top 5 money.

Well said, it's very easy to pick on the defense and goaltending as well I will add. However, in hockey, you need to score goals to win games and there just wasn't enough goal scoring to put us over the top of Colorado! I like our team going into this season, and if we get Patty Kane that's just a bonus!

Yes they do. Goalie is way better but your defense is really bad. If Markstrom didn't let in 10 goals a game you would have gotten slaughtered
The whole issue is McDavid needs the help to get a cup and to be in the conversation or he'll walk to a legitimate contender. The time is now!
Those top 4 D are "adequate" at best, the bottom 2, are still too green, and unreliable. I'd sooner get another sound and reliable D-man, and maybe a more seasoned backup goalie, than go for Kane as a friggen rental for a few months.
34 years old, and I don't care what anyone says, he's going to regress this season. "Oh, but he was amazing last season, and got 92 points." Lovely. We'll see what he gets this season.
34, is the beginning of the end. He will start showing signs of age, and each year after this one, his production will drop exponentially in comparison.
Let the Kane idea go already, and put resources where the team needs most.
