  1. Nostalgia: In the early 70's Glen Sather played LW for St.L, and they had a young John Davidson playing Goal (Yes, that John Davidson). Although they went through Head Coaches regularly, in the 1970-71 season they had two of the greatest Coaches in NHL history in Al Arbour & Scotty Bowman.

  2. Like you've said about Montreal, the league's more interesting and fun to watch when St Louis is competitive.

  3. Representing the note means so much to me… idk ifs it’s a small market type of thing but everyone in the league saw how much we bleed blue here in st.Louis when we won it all in 19…

  4. I still say Covid owes STL a CUP, as we were first in the West and clicking on all cylinders until then. But, coulda, woulda, shoulda, I guess!

  5. I’ve been a fan since 1976. That Cup was a long time coming. Thanks for this.

  6. Wichita, KS will host a Blues preseason game in this year. I think the Blues would like a closer location for the Affiliate in the American Hockey League the Springfield, MA. Unsure how the relocation of Springfield Rifle to Texas will effect sports dollars in the area.

  7. Each of these expansion teams have a certain mystique from my childhood. The 70's and 80's version anyway.

  8. The fact that Federko, Hull, Mcinnis, Pronger, Demitra, Gretzky, etc., all could never win a cup with STL is just bonkers. And the team that finally won went on an incredible run without any "superstars". It's both the great thing and the maddening thing about sports.

  9. I was born in ‘03, meaning my first taste of Blues hockey was arguably their darkest stretch except for the Saskatoon scare. My mom was an usher and later receptionist for them, and my dad’s father worked the KMOX radio station, so I was bound to get hooked sooner or later. This team has had tons of highs and lows, but there will always be 2019 no matter what the future holds.

  10. Thank you for your work here, Shannon. We Blues fans love our team, and have ridden all the highs and lows with them. And as you pointed out, there have been plenty of both ! LGB !

  11. When I got to the playoff game section of this video I started fast forwarding…..

As I did so, all I heard was:

First round, first ground, first round……….first round, first round

  12. It’s crazy how some players like Sutter have spent over a day of their like (almost 30 hrs for Sutter) in the NHL penalty box. Hockey is the best

  13. Not fun fact: That 3 year period in there where we got kicked out in the first rd in 6, we went up 2-0 in all 3 series

  14. Make for a much longer video, was hoping Shannon would discuss how important ownership is to a teams' success. And how, failing good ownership (looking at you Ralston Purina) a team can fold or be moved, (Winnipeg neighbor Saskatoon Saskatchewan).

  15. I still call it the Kiel center, can't keep up with name changes.

  16. Shannon, got an idea for a video. Could do one or more vids on old famous arenas. I loved the "old barn" the Blues played in but be awesome to see vid on Nassau, Joe Louis arena, or United Center etc…

  17. St. Louis has a lot of former players who stuck around the area. A few years ago, I was in the line going into the game, and a guy next to me says, "Hey, do you remember Dwight Schofield? Here he is!" Pointing to the guy with him. I recognized him immediately, even though he was only with the Blues for a couple years in the mid-80s. He's living in the area and involved in the youth hockey movement. It's a good city to be a former athlete.

  18. Maybe I’m being prickish but shouldn’t you include in a team history the year they entered the league? And how long before they won their first Stanley Cup?

  19. ‘They’ve been the play-offs allot’
Bit on an understatement. I know you are only doing since 2000, but they went 25 strait seasons without missing the play-offs. (and of course no cup)

  20. Ahh hearing Demitra's name just makes me sad. Such an absolute tragedy. Rest in peace, Pavol. And all the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl 2011 team.
