  2. Dustin Brown is a greater King than Gretzky and Robitaille combined. Yes I said it and I stand by it.

  3. I think if there was one player to get a statue from the core of the kings, I'd say Quick more than anything. Also a life long King, one of the best goalies (I'm not giving a list but he's in the convos of say a top 10-15). Any of the core 4 I think could have a fair argument but of the 4, Brownie is 3rd or 4th IMO.

  4. Because leadership counts in the NHL. And because he was the first guy they acquired that became a core member of the cup teams. They drafted him and he was good enough to build around. So, yeah, a statue is deserved. And I don’t care if other people have good arguments as well. The question is whether or not he deserves one. And long term kings fans who thought they would never actually win a cup know he does.

  5. To there point, this is about kings fans specifically and I have not seen another kings fan say he does not deserve it. He was the first king to ever raise the cup, played 18 years with the kings from a baby faces teenager who was picked on for a lisp to a 2 time Stanley Cup captain. He set the tone for what it meant to be a King and was a stand up guy when the organization ridiculously stripped him of his C. He never asked for a trade or pouted, just played hard and tried to win games for the team. I could care less about his stats, he is everything the kings stood for and the type of player/teammate you hope your son grows up to be. He absolutely deserves it and I’m so glad they aren’t making him wait.

  6. How many Stanley cups did Gretzky or Robataille bring to LA again? Oh yeah that's right 0. Brown absolutely deserves it

  7. Winning a championship is what matters. Jarome Iginla would gladly trade all his individual awards and his hall of fame plaque for a Stanley Cup.

  8. He absolutely does not. A statue outside of staples center isn’t for local legends, it’s for all time greats!

Kobe, Gretzky, shaq, magic, Kareem, robitaille.

Dustin brown was a very good player, but he is not at those guys’ level.

  9. Dustin Brown did something no other Los Angeles King ever did before him which is CAPTAIN his team to a Stanley Cup title. Well deserved honor and he was the captain for both of the Stanley Cup titles he absolutely deserves a statue and his jersey retired.

  10. Great conversation guys. As a life long die hard Kings fan since the early 80’s. Certainly Brown was drafted highly as a kid and earned the captaincy by exemplifying hard work and leadership and being a quality person on a long run of bad teams early on and then he stood out during the long rebuilding process of GM Dean Lombardi and then lifted the cup as Captain twice and was a dirty player some might say but never didn’t hit a player on his radar and did some goal scoring along the way. I’ll never forget his 34 goal season. He has been a rock for a franchise that sorely needed a rock before he got there. Statue status is yes for me.

  11. Yes he does , two f ing cups ! Don’t care about any numbers , he was tough , and even tougher to play against !

  12. Is this even a real question? Dustin Brown was the captain on two Stanley Cup teams. Not only was Dustin Brown the captain on two Stanley Cup teams; he was the captain on the first two Stanley Cup teams for the LA kings. Not only was Dustin Brown the captain on two Stanley Cup teams AND he was the captain on the first two Stanley Cup teams for the LA Kings, he was the captain on LA's first two Stanley Cup teams after nigh 50 years of relative mediocrity. Dustin Brown should and will get a statue.

  13. Honestly, that was a more than respectable effort to know the history of the Kings franchise. I'm a fan since 1980, so I don't have a Cup era expectation that everyone should know these things. Triple Crown Line was Simmer/Dionne/Taylor. Nicholls was an absolutely electrifying player in the 80's, came up playing behind Marcel and then found lightning in a bottle playing on Gretzky's wing for a year. Jari Kurri was a King for about 10 (glorious) minutes.

  14. Dustin Brown = LA Kings 1st ever Stanley Cup(45yrs) & 2nd cup, Dustin won the 2nd & 3rd of the only 3 (so far) Lord Stanly Cup won by an American Born Captain won ever!!!(Dustin did it 2X), drafted by the LA Kings, played all his pro games with the LA Kings!

Kopi & Quickwill also get theirs once they retire… Yes even Drew D. will

  15. Me: a San Jose Sharks fan “F^ck that guy”.
    Also me: hears Adam “Sigh”

  16. here's the equivalent of a Ryan Smyth in Edmonton. Ryan doesn't deserve a statue, neither does Mr. Brown imo.

  17. As statue? Not worth it. Should have saved it for doughty or kopitar or even quick
