  1. People seemed surprised by Boone Jenner's scoring ability, but he put up good numbers in Junior. Torts used him as a utility guy, and Boone can play good two-way, but wasn't a fixture in the offense beyond getting some greasy goals.

  2. I like the idea of Voracek passing to Laine, but Jacob might be slowing down and Patrick has never loved being on the second line, eventhough the competition is slightly easier.

  3. CBJ season ticket holder here. I think they have a good chance. If the scoring can out weigh the defense. But the defense had been getting steadily better until jones left. So if the young guys are developing properly, the defense may not be as big of an issue as we think. Laine has size and has gotten better on defense but I think Jenners toughness may be needed on that top line. There's a good chance scoring has gone up and possibly by a good amount. So if defense can step up some and help the goaltending out some as well, we have a good shot. But its gonna be a dog fight in the east so I think its up in the air. Even for other teams in the east.

Love the channel btw Hopefully your making lots of money cus its well deserved!

  4. Columbus's goaltending will bounce back this year. Merzlikins was fairly open about suffering some PTSD following the death of Kivlenieks. Mentioning that he couldn't always focus and keep his head in the game at times. I think he even said something about the cannon being really difficult for the first little while.

  5. I think Jenner ends up being the top C. He's defensively responsible and his faceoff win% will only help with the higher offensive zone starts. As for moves – I think they really need to try and evaluate Marchenko and Johnson in higher minute roles before making too drastic of changes.

  6. i love oliver bjorkstrand. i had him almost every year in my fantasy hockey. However he is a -50 in his last 2 seasons.

  7. I hope they do more than challenge for a playoff spot! I hope they comfortably in and make a run.

  8. I REALLY hope the Gudbranson trade was to get Johnny. That's the only way I can rationalize it. That cap hit really fucks us, sadly.

  9. Great Video Shannon!

I think some key parts. I have no doubts Gavrikov stays when his contract is up. Not sure if you just looked at Dailyfaceoff, but Marchenko is cracking top 9 easy. As for the line up. I do believe the center piece between Johnny and Laine is up for question. I think perhaps all of Jack, Boone, Cole and even Kent gets a chance to be there. Perhaps even Texier. My projected lineup for when season starts is otherwise something like.

    Gaudreau – Jenner – Laine
    Voracek – Roslovic – Marchenko
    Nyquist – Sillinger – Texier
    Robinson – Kuraly – Danforth

2nd take if Texier gets back to some glimpses he showed before he got injured. There's no secret they love Jenner as a wing.

    Gaudreau – Texier – Laine
    Voracek – Sillinger – Marchenko
    Jenner – Roslovic – Nyquist
    Robinson – Kuraly – Danforth.

This would leave Kent and Chiankhov starting in the AHL which could be best for their development anyway. Rather they play top line minutes and PP instead of some checking 4th line role. Depends how much they grow over summer ofcourse.

  10. Leaving Marchenko out of this preview misses what most fans and sounds like the org expect to be a MASSIVE piece of this roster

  11. I read Peeke as Pesce and was very confused lol. That would've been an insane pickup.

  12. I can see Jenner starting off the Laine Gaudreau line, mainly saying this due to his best season last season and I believe that'll put faith in Lars to start him on the first line.

And yes I do believe we will make the playoffs, only if our D steps up and doesn't give so many high risk shots away.

  13. Boone Jenner will be the 1C. Best two way guy on the team and was on pace for 60 points before getting hurt. Put an elite playmaker on the wing and those numbers are bound to go up

  14. They look like a 85-90 point team to me. The top line will be pretty good but the defense and goaltending aren't good enough.

  15. I hope beyond hope that KJ explodes on to the scene and takes that 1C position. He's got the vision to feed both Laine and Gaudreau when they are both drawing focus and giving him time so it could be a match made in heaven. I think Gudbranson was picked up both for his physicality and to show guys like Peeke how to more effectively use their size which is sorely lacking from CBJ D. All in all I think they push for a playoff spot but it comes down to the wire as to whether they make a spot or not. I lean towards saying they fall a handful of points outside the picture

  16. Just love to see how that powerplay will work out with Johnny, Laine, Voracek and Werenski. Laine will abslotulety molest the net.

  17. Byorki was the most club friendly contract we had. Sad to see him go but I’m excited about the future.

  18. Vorachek is the key. Without a doubt: in the locker room, on the bench, on the ice… he is THE missing piece. Without Jakub – it won’t happen for them.

  19. I picked the Blues in 2019, people were laughing their ass off at me in Jan, when StL was in last place, I alone said “they will win the Cup”

CBJ’s will win the Cup in 2023. I promise.

  20. Center depth most important. Can Roslovic handle 1st line center or they have to look elsewhere? Main issue with tream right now

  21. Admittedly unfamiliar with Marchenko's work aside from watching a few highlights. However, I do also think the ice time being up for grabs for Yegor Chinakhov is a very good thing for the Blue Jackets.

  22. So like I said in another video I’m still kinda new to hockey. The draft pick the blue jackets made this year you said should be on the team, wouldn’t he be going to cleveland for his rookie year?

  23. Good overview. The one guy I would throw in as a wildcard is the Russian Marchenko (2nd rd (?) pick from a few years I go). He'll get an opportunity, I hate the Gudbranson deal as well, just way too much money and term. I would think they regret that, but maybe not. They were very soft on their back end, so they do address a weakness with his signing. The Gudbranson signing hurts more bc they had to then deal Bjorkstrand for pennies on the dollar. Just a brutal move to have to make, but they had to make cap space.

I think a lot of their success next year will depend on who picks up that Bjorkstrand role? Can Chinakhov become that guy? Marchenko? Johnson? One of these young guys has to take a big step up for me to believe they're a playoff team. Goaltending has to be better as well.

  24. Jackets were a terrible possession team last year with subpar goaltending. However, they shot the puck very well. They also played against a ton of backups.

A goaltending rebound can always go a long way, but unless they can bring their possession metrics closer to average it’s hard to assume that rebound will happen.

Jackets are actually in pretty good shape when it comes to their bottom 9, but their top line was atrocious at holding the puck and limiting their opponent, needing fantastic goaltending and beefy shooting numbers just to break even at 5v5.

At the end of the day Jarmo is putting a ton of faith in the idea that the Jackets’ young guys will take large steps forward, which is certainly possible.

  25. The Blue Jackets have a lot of work to do to get into the playoffs and win more games than some of the good teams from the last few seasons.

  26. CBJ are missing an gritty Center. Someone like Jeff Carter now at his age his role has change. So does Voracek go into the role with jenner and risk getting injured again? Kadri is your best bet. Do we see a bizarre trade that sends voracek out of CBJ just too sign former Leafs Kadri and Kessel. Voracek playing with Palat would be a dynamic line!

  27. Love the OG jersey!! CBJ make PO’s as 8th seed and push for a first round win! Elvis improves significantly and the top 6 will put the puck in the net.

  28. Columbus a playoff candidate — hahaha,
You're kidding and must have your head up a place where the sun doesn't shine!!!

  29. I think Sillinger will get first look between Johnny and Patty. He just turned 19 but he already has the trust of the coaching staff and looks like a younger / quicker Jenner in regards to his effort level. If he can't handle it, Jenner will do a suitable job as he has shown in the past. The line of Laine/Jenner/Voracek was on fire last year until injuries split the trio. Roslovic's skill better matches the big 2, but his work ethic leaves much to be desired. You can't have two lazy players on one Laine, er, I mean, one line. Who will get pucks back from those three? I see opening night being Jenner, Sillinger, Roslovic, Kuraly in that order, barring anything unforeseen.

I still think the Jackets are a year away from returning to the playoffs. I think they'll be in the mix but fall short.

  30. Don't forget that Elvis was coming off of a summer where his best friend was killed in a freak fireworks accident. Elvis had a tough first half of the season but looked better the second half. Elvis should be back to form this coming season with the loss of his friend further in the rear-view mirror. I also look for Tarasov to move into the #2 goalie slot ahead of Korpi, and he will more than likely push Elvis for the #1 job.

  31. Jackets will win atleast 1 🏆 in the next 3-5 years! Our defense is very young and gunna be very good Elvis is getting better and better and we have a lot of cap space clearing up next year to bolster down the middle! 2 years and we're gunna be SCARY! And I know that alot of people are gunna kill me for this take but sillinger reminds me of a young Crosby! Just give it time! And voracek is making over 8 mill imagine what we could do down the middle with that money! And with the metro being such a grueling division it may work in our favor with teams all beating eachother up! Just a few thoughts I have been thinking about for awhile. Thanks for the video!

  32. The fact that you think you know for a fact gaveikov is going to free agent market is hilarious 😂 read up on your fact bro
