  1. The fact that all these comments are saying that it's NOT offensive and most of them say they are Native really says something…

  2. That is the best jersey in all of professional sports the ♥️ red one no one even comes close

  3. people taking offence to a team named after them is dumb you should be honored the Cleveland Indians name and logo i get
the redskins name only logo is beautiful. people have nothing better to do then bitch and complain i dont see any Canadian folk getting offended about the canucks

  4. I have always been a strong advocate for context in situations like this. In this particular case it’s important to remember why they are called the Blackhawks, which you touched on in this video.
Disclaimer: I am as white as wonder bread and like you I’m not telling native Americans not to be offended by it. I just think the woke movement has lost touch with reality a bit. In the pursuit of political correctness we are dismantling honouring figures.
The people in 1926 deserve a little grace here as I genuinely believe it wasn’t their intention to offend.
Obviously this is an issue for some indigenous people so I like the idea of getting them to create an interpretation of something honours the person who the team was named after.

  5. Sports Illustrated did a poll several years ago and 78% of American Indians had no issue with team names and logos centered around them. This all started back in the early 1970's when Stanford University decided their nickname "Indians" was an insult to American Indians, and hence, they became the Stanford Cardinal. This movement eventually gained a head of steam in American colleges and schools like St. John's, Miami of Ohio (etc, etc) changed their nicknames as well. In so far as that drawing you showed in your video. If you hadn't told me it was supposed to be the Black Hawks, I'd have never known it. It looks like someone wearing the same hat the Girl Scouts wear. Now it might be offensive to Girl Scouts………

  6. Do liberals even watch hockey? What do they care? Whatever logo you have someone is going to be butt hurt about it. The only people offended are more then likely not American Indians. No one had a problem with this until 2006, that's a long time to just now get offended. Nothing good comes from censorship when you let liberals rip American culture apart because they are offended, and they cant tell the difference between respect and disrespect.

  7. I don't think so but the way they run their organization is most definitely offensive. Y'all know what I mean yeah?

  8. I have no stake in this claim as I am Chinese, but in my opinion there is nothing offensive about the name or logo. If anyone thinks otherwise, that's their opinion. If you don't like it, don't support the team.

Should the organization cower and change it all like Washington and Cleveland did, which would be a total shame, I would be proud if they honored the Chinese somehow. Not sure if there's any link between Chinese and the Chicago-area. Even if they called them, say, the Chicago Chinamen and drew a logo with a rice paddy hat on the person, I'd be the first to buy a jersey.

    People need to lighten up.

  9. Neil: is the logo offensive?

White Girls On Twitter: write that down white that down

  10. I thought you would say now because the Indians and red skins now the commanders and Gurdians

  11. my grandma is native american, she grew up in oklahoma. she thinks that the blackhawks honor native americans very well

  12. I think this is a great opportunity to do a blackhawks only concepts video.

  13. Not offensive at all. Unlike the other teams forced to change their name due to outright racism or veiled uncomfortable jokes about the certain group, this one is literally a tribute to a real Chief, it was deemed ok by the group in question, has never been used in a way that could be considered misappropriation, and likely never will. This is is fine.

  14. No it’s not offensive.
The whole “woke” agenda is to create problems and divisions where there were none.
Coca Cola corporation told their white employees to try to stop being so white!!
These days the entire control structure is activated and the evil elites are deploying all assets. Look around, schools promoting CRT, it’s all connected. Even at the local level these evil agents are exposing themselves (they’re not smart)

Trump pissed them all off by exposing the corruption and now they’re pulling out all the stops to keep us from seeing it all.
    It’s not working.

Wait until Truth Social comes online in March! These evil fucks have riots planned (Clinton took over BLM and Antifa is ready) and they’re going to dress up like Trump supporters while committing crimes. Exactly like January 6th at the capitol.

But the patriots are ready and everything is being monitored and recorded. The people are waking up and taking back control. Justice is coming. Don’t fall for the woke garbage, it’s media driven nonsense.
Turn off the television and delete social media.
    Find trusted news sources.
Stock up on food and water and bullets. It’s going to get ugly but we will win!

  15. To save all the controversy and disagreement about Team names and Logos, let's all of us move away from human related names, Eg, "Knights, Indians, Patriots, Celtics, etc"
and move towards Non-human names like "Comets, Lighting, Blizzard, Pumas, Thunderheads, Scorchers, etc."
And then maybe nobody gets offended?

  16. awesome stance, it isn’t our job to be offended for others, and I don’t feel strongly either way because it’s a “logo”, if a logo is offensive to people and perpetuate a negative connotation (I.e. worthy adversary that we killed and took land from) than I’d quickly sacrifice a logo, but again I don’t really hold a deciding stake in the decision and to me (a non native with no native blood and a staunch DRW fan) I love the Blackhawks aesthetic

  17. The Washington Redskins was clearly offensive, the name of the team was a racial slur. The Cleveland Indians was understandably offensive, the logo was a caricature of American Indians. The Blackhawks, Braves, Chiefs, etc I feel are acceptable because they are clearly honoring American Indian people and in reverence to these groups rather than a caricature or a slur of them. Just my opinion. Chief Black Hawk was a real person, and Braves and Chiefs are both noble titles rather than slurs. In my opinion that is where the difference lies. Personally I see no difference between the Braves and Chiefs and teams with names such as the Knights or Kings. Likewise the Blackhawks are really no different from a team like the minor league baseball Frisco Roughriders who are named after Theodore Roosevelt.

  18. It’s fucking 2022, literally everything is offensive. Everyone is so goddamn soft. Sickening. 🙄

  19. If you find it offensive don’t look at it. It’s not offensive. I don’t get why this logo has been around for around 100 years and it doesn’t come up until now. Same crap that happened with the redskins. Dang 2020’s

  20. as a native American I don't find this logo offensive I actually like the logo and I'm not a Chicago fan so there is no bias there I think it is cool and unique and it also shows off a bit of history

  21. I’m white so ppl won’t care about my opinion but I love it it makes native Americans look badass yk I think it glorifies it and I like it

  22. As a native American man I don't think the name or concept of the team being named after black hawk is offensive
The logo is what I am not a fan of
I wish it could just be a band of feathers or an arrowhead or a stylised hawk with native American influences. I got in a fist fight at a black hawks and preds game several years ago because of comments made by the black hawks fan about me resembling the black hawks logo. That was when I put a lot more thought in to my feelings towards the black hawks logo

  23. The US Army uses the name of Indigenous Americans/Native American's and when a new helicopter comes into service and has Native Representatives at their unveiling.

Apache, Kiowa, Blackhawk, Chinook honour Native American Warriors.

  24. Just wanted to mention that No native input was given or asked when making this stuff. The logo and all was all created by racists who never cared about the Native leader who defended his people from their genocidal ancestors. And if anyone thinks that I'm out of line or I'm saw, just wanna say I'm Mexican Mestizo. I'm part of a history and culture where it is constantly mocked and stereotyped by whites. So yeah! I would loke to note I would be ok if they changed the Blackhawks changed the logo. My hometown minorleague team the Portland Winterhawks did it and they are beautiful. If ya haven't seem em postpone, definitely check out the Portland Winterhawks rebrand.

  25. I completely agree. But at the same time everything is offensive. They could come out with a literal black hawk (bird) logo, and someone would complain about it being black and it red, brown, etc. People now a days always have an opinion about things, just the world we live in. Completely see both sides. But there will always be that one person that is “offended” or finds something to be offensive. Great work, keep up the awesome content!

  26. It's just not offensive. I've been to their games they play a video on the scoreboard saying "we understand what out team represents and our name is representing chief Blackhawk. We understand that our arena lays on sacred ground." It would be different if they weren't representing anything but all of it is in honor of those tribes and chief Blackhawk

  27. Need to change the logo. The name is fine. Just replace logo with a bird head. Chicago Blackhawks logo has a didrespectful racial connotation to it. First, it's a Decapitated Native American Head. On that basis, its uncomfortable to look at as a non NA. I would never wear that Jersey or anything that has an Native American head on it. Animals, created machines, and Letters are the only logos I would wear. No matter what, if you are a non NA and you wear that logo in the company of hundreds of NA's, someone will be offended by it. The Decapitated NA head is a symbol of a conquering force who defeated the NA's. It derived out of a defeated NA Chief in the US-Indian wars. Respect to your combatants is naming US Army Helicopters and airplanes after NA tribes. Decapitated NA heads on sports team logos is not a sign of respect.

The Irish mascot is a full body Character. Celtics mascot as well. Both have actual Irish origins. Native Americans didn't found the Chicago Blackhawks.

  28. I would also like to add that the Chicago Blackhawks mascot is a Black Bird. If the Decapitated NA head was acceptable then why is there not an NA mascot to match the logo? Because some NA's would be offended. Like what happened with Chief Wahoo mascot. I've said before, if some NA's are offended by an NA logo then you have to get rid of it because it's disrespectful. No one is saying a "Jet" logo is offensive, or the Duck foot, etc.

  29. A little late here, but I take a similar opinion as Neil does. I think it depends on how people interpret the logo. I could see it as offensive if it was a mocking or comedic profile of a native American. I think the logo honors the Blackhawk name and history. Last thing, I can totally see why some of the previous logos were offensive because they showed the man with red skin but those were times where native Americans had less influence so it was perceived as “ok”.

  30. In 1934, Mussolini' second-in-command, Italo Balbo, visited Chicago, and the Blackhawk Chief Blackhorn made him a member of the tribe, naming him "Chief Flying Eagle" (Balbo had just set a world aviation record leading a squadron of planes from Rome to Chicago). You can see photos of the Fascist politician, standing amongst the other Blackhawk members, wearing a full chieftain's feather headdress.

So if the NHL team ever changes its name, maybe the logo should be altered to Italo Balbo's face wearing the Indian chief's headdress, and they can be called the "Chicago Blackshirts".

  31. i feel like associations are behind changing just so they can shut up the snow flakes.
