  1. Preds are middle of the pack team. I would do a retool if I was them, Good trade if they can flip him for assets this year. Most of the players had a career year and they got swept in 4 games against colorado. If they lose Forsberg they are out of the playoff for sure.

  2. This was a weird trade for Tampa you could have sold other cap piece yet you trade your 2nd best d man

  3. Do a video of every teams cap space. I don’t feel like looking it all up but I’m interested In knowing. You could also talk a bit about what each team can do with their cap space. I think that could be a good vid idea

  4. as a preds fan i cant tell you how long ive been waiting for them to make a big move

  5. I’m not sure completely sure but I think if Myers is bought out Tampa will actually get a cap credit this year and a small hit next year.
This is over 7M of cap space this year

  6. I like this deal for Nashville. And I can see Tampas perspective. For Tampa this will be used to resign Palat. Not sure if this will pan out for them long term or not. But I can understand the reasoning. For Nashville. They're a team looking to remain competitive. Under 7M for them isn't hurting them now. They just need to lock up Forsberg. For Nashville it goes 2 ways. It either helps push them over the edge eventually. Or it fails and eventually they'll need to do a rebuild anyways and McDonagh will help them hit the cap floor for a few years worst case scenario.

In my opinion. 100% a win for Nashville, maybe a win for Tampa if all goes according to plan.

  7. McDonagh will fit in perfectly with Josi as Josi has been lacking defensively. Preds are looking solid with this one. That 1st pairing will easily be on of if not the best after Avs, Isles, Panthers and like Wild

  8. I genuinely love your content man! Never miss a video! You’re my NHL insider! Keep up a great videos!

  9. I'm disappointed that they couldn't even snatch a pick out of Nashville. In that regard we got more out of Goodrow; which is embarrassing.

  10. Sad for Tampa bay. I always like McDonough. Was super solid in New York and really solidified Tampas defensive core

  11. Personally see it as an A for Tampa and A- for Nashville (win-win) just because I don’t love the mcdonaugh contract.

Great top 4 d man for nothing though so a great acquisition.

It’s just also great handiwork to unload that big contract for free.

What repercussions does this have on Jeff Petry’s value?

  12. I’m actually surprised McDonagh is only 33, he’s been around for so long, I thought he was older… it’s all those deep playoff runs that keep him forever present in the mind. Nice pick up for Nashville… do you think Montreal still carries that torch?

  13. As a lightning fan, Im so sad to see McDonagh go, but understand the necessity of it. When they first signed McDonagh to his contract I hated the term and the AAV, 2 cups later and it was worth every penny (and the move on from the contract at the perfect time)

  14. Tampa’s D core is still insanely good and Meyers such a solid piece in return for opening up some cap to sign Palat or whoever. McDonagh is so valuable and does all the small details. To win the Stanley Cup you need to have a few guys like McDonagh, tremendous player.

  15. As a Bolts fan, sad to see Mack go. In my opinion he was our best defenseman on our team for most of the past 3 cup runs. Hoping we can still find a way to get it done next season after resigning Palat. Also Preds D is now ELITE ELITE.

  16. Great move for the Preds! They get a "rental" type player now, without having to overpay at the trade deadline. If he helps them make a deep playoff run next year, great. If not, they could trade him at the trade deadline the following year (2023-2024) and get a good return. Yes, he has 4 years remaining @ 6.75 million, but he's good enough to warrant interest in two years when he will be 35 years old. So the cap hit need not be for the duration of the contract, and he gives Nashville another excellent defenseman for 2022-2023.

  17. McDonagh will make a little bit less than his cap hit during his time in Nashville. So, there is a bit of money saving part.
MacDonagh had an NTC, so he supposedly wants to be in Nashville.
Preds get rid of Myers contract, which was taken to get rid of Ryan Ellis contract.
Preds now have a lot of contracts ending in 25 and 26. I'm wondering if they have some rebuilt plans…

And yes, Preds have 18M in cap space. And they need to:
Give Forsberg his 9M over 8 years or whatever he wants
Extend Kunin (should be like, what, 3.5M? Less?), Trenin (2.5M? More?) and Luff (1M?)
Find a backup for Saros, so that Saros doesn't play all the games that are not back-to-backs again. Ingram? Someone from the market?
After that no money is left to get a scoring top-6 player, but Preds supposedly get better on D.

  18. Maybe that's what McDonagh's daughter was trying to tell him… She didn't want him traded… Lol…. I'm jking..

  19. I think a big part of this move (especially the timing) is the Preds showing Forsberg they want to compete. I think this increases the chances that he resigns.

  20. Allows Tampa to re-sign Sergachev, Cernak with options to re-sign Rutta and Palat of they can also move Killorn.

McDonaugh running the 2nd unit allowed Tampa to shut teams down and make 3 cup runs. But his style of play blocking shots opened him up to injury and his contract prohibited them from re-signing younger players.

This trade was tough but had to be done.

  21. Tampa did him dirty, he had a no trade clause in his contract. Tampa told him if he didn't accept the trade. He would be dropped where Columbus would then pick him up and he would.then be a member of the jackets. So he accepted the trade to Nashville.

  22. Nashville has an insane D-Core. Josi, Mcdonaugh, Fabbro, ekholm, and other really good young pieces

  23. You forgot to add that if the Tampa Bay Lightning were to buy out Myers it would save them even more money in the long run.

  24. How about a video on the new head coaches for next season and an analysis if it’s a good or bad hire or just the right fit!
