This team issue has been going on for years now, after their 2018 run their whole structure fell apart. Even last season everyone forget about their major losing streak at the end where they were struggling to stay in playoff contention. They beat edmonton so everyone ignored that then got swept by Montreal after. This season isn’t an outlier, it’s 3 year trend where now they have no excuses and people are questioning everything. This organizations biggest flaw is their asset managment and their inability to make real change.
Top notch goaltending.
Better than average depth at forward.
A couple of solid defensemen.
Should be a playoff caliber team and maybe cup contender worthy if they can pull it together.
The Oilers were out of the playoffs past the midway point and turned thing's around.
The Oilers could have just as easily missed the playoffs.

Hellebuyck was overworked, they need a coach and they need more production from the bottom 6
I’d say they had a very successful season, scheifele and the jets got to beat the leafs one time, they accomplished everything they set out to do this season.
That’s easy, they were never a good team.
Wheeler is just not a first line player anymore. Shiefele seems to have mental issues because his body language and lazy defensive play. Morrisey is not a top Dman. Big changes must be made.
Everyones acting like the jets came in last place like the canadiens and didnt sweep the team that apparently has the "best player in the nhl" they certainly need some work but they aren't as bad as the 13 teams under them who clearly aren't on the same level

We need a coach and to play Comrie more as he’s shown he can start this season and give helly a break
Creative direction is bad, no fan fair , no intensity, no reason for players to want to play here , went to 7 games saw more action at portage place ( Winnipeggers know)

Need new GM and a top name coach i.e. Babcock Trotz Quenville etc…. that caliber gotta move the Captain it can be done i.e. Ladd
The biggest change that needs to be made on the Jets is Kevin Cheveldayoff. What he's doing isn't working. We need a better backup goalie, Helle playing 70 games is absurd. The need a better coach. Our bottom 6 hasn't been good because Chevy has picked up bottom feeder players and put them as the bottom 6. Brooks, Sanford, Toninatio, Vesalainen isn't cutting it, neither is Harkins. Might be time to move on from those guys.
Bringing back Appleton is good for the bottom 6, Svechnikov too, but with Copp gone and Stastny possibly next, that leaves a bigger hole in the top 6. And Chevy has shown he doesn't have the fortitude or intelligence to build a good team.
Obvs the coaches don't have3 much sway in the locker room . ex. Helly is the worst puck handler I've ever seen and yet he still runs out to play the puck every time. Who voice isn't being heard in the locker room.
Goaltending. Jets usually scored enough to win, but the goaltending let us down time and time again.

How does a team with that kind of talent fail to make the playoffs?!!? How? Unless their so called stars are wildly overrated. I stopped watching them the day Paul Maurice wisely walked away. These players don’t care and have no pride. It is laughable for Hellebuyck to contend they are on the cusp of greatness! This team is definitely on a down swing. In 1-2 years they will be right where they were in ‘11/‘12: perennial bottom feeders. What a grand waste of talent. Go Leafs!

What went wrong? Pretty much everything, very disappointing season as a fan of the team.
Maurice should have been fired last season.
They weren't a playoff team two years ago but snuck in because of COVID-19 and ultimately lost in four to Calgary. They certainly wouldn't have been a playoff team last year had they played in the much tougher Central instead of the cupcake Canadian division with a shorter season. Sure, they swept the Oilers but Tippett's time in Edmonton was over.
It was the coach. Maurice did his best, got to the WCF, but apathy ruined this team and they need someone, anyone, to push the right buttons in the room and get this team ready to start the first. They came out dopey so many times and they committed so many blind pass turnovers, it seemed like no one even cared.
Only in Winnipeg can a coach of an 80 million dollar team be allowed to step down after losses at home to Arizona and Buffalo.
