Les Caps ont connu une première moitié de décennie difficile dans la LNH, mais ils ont été plutôt bons pendant la majeure partie de leur histoire depuis lors. Bobby Carpenter first player to go from high school to NHL 1981.
He was a Cap category: Justin Williams and Jaroslav Halak.
Caps also have the rights to one of the worst trades ever: Filip Forsberg for Martin Erat and Michael Latta.
Chris Simon was great for the Caps , infamous pretty much everywhere though.
I stills have my Semin Jersey haha
My All Time Caps Starting Six:
Goal: Olaf Kölzig
Defense: John Carlson – Scott Stevens
Forwards: Alex Ovechkin – Nicklas Bäckström – Mike Gartner
Nice job Shannon. Never realized that Jason Arnott was a Capital, and I watched him with NJ, DAL, NSH, and STL.
Dino cicerelli is a forgotten one
My favorite line when I was growing up was the Ridley Pouilin Miller trio. I went to church with Mike Gartner and Mike luit. Been a fan ever since
Ilya Kovalchuk, Alexander Semin, Jaromir Jagr, Mike Green
Can't wait to watch Alex Ovechkin score his 5000th goal in 2080
Kinda surprised you didn't have Esa Tikkanen in the "He was a Cap" category. He played a handful of games there during the 97-98 season.
Despite falling short frequently, the Caps have earned so much respect and fans as a franchise because of the Ws they have racked up over the decade. Opposing teams see the Caps and go “ugh gonna be a tough one tonight”.
Ovie, Bäckström and Kölzig (in that order) are the top three for me 🙂
Coach Hanlon and GM McPhee for finding and PLAYING young Russian Ovechkin.
The first round pick traded for Dale Hunter
Honorable mention mike green
Not a Caps fan, but Ovie had easily one of the best cup lifts ever. In terms of raw emotion, it might have been the best (though, I'm relatively young, so I know there are probably others).
He was a capital: Mike Richards
Filip Forsberg was a cap 😀
By the way, I am not giving an honourable mention to the 2016-2017 playoff Caps, the reason behind this is they took out my Leafs in 6, and aren't forgiven for that exact reason. You don't come back from a 2-1 series defecit!
He was a Capital?
Cristobal Huet
Curtis Glencross
Peter Sykora
Jason Arnott
Wojtek Wolski
Matt Cooke
Joe Corvo
Mikhail Grabovski
Roman Hamrlik
I always forget that Scott Stevens started his career with the Caps before his successful stint with the Devils
Will you be making a Colby Cave video???
Abe Polin, David Poile, Bryan Murray, Terry Murray should all be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in the builders category.
Great job with the "he was a Cap". A number of those genuinly floored me.
I like the 15 all-time favorite players videos for each team…need more of those
Osgood should have had that Vezina over Carey. I'll never forget that season.
The caps were built to have a cup window the two seasons before they actually won. If you look at the scoring depth of those teams, also with Veteran experience from Justin Williams. This were the teams that were meant to win. Then after they left, McLellan found some cheap grinders and those were the guys to take it to the end.
Bill clement, Jagr, Halpern (Captain in 05-06), Anson Carter to name a few on the “Wow, they were on the Caps! “ List
He was a Cap? Did anyone mention "Chief"? Craig Berube. A bunch of commentators i.e. Keith Jones, Bill Clement, Brian Engbloom, etc. were Capitals. Our friends have always joked that the Caps always got bad press because these guys hated their time in D.C.
Shannon, thank you for the trip down memory lane. Here are a few more for the "He was a Cap?" list: Dave Christian, Robert Lang (use to hate him but actually learned to respect him), Donald Brashear, Richard Zednik. Also a couple of proud papas were also Caps: Ulf Dahlen and Mark Tinordi.
Ovechkin must be the career leader in power play goals.
Oh, and I hate to point this out, but unfortunately Matt Cooke was a Capital.
