    Hell, I've assumed they have been talking for weeks already. We all know Barzals numbers will go up when he's playing in a less restrictive system. The time to lock him up is now. No way Lou makes the mistake Snow made with Tavares. I predict 8 x 9.5 with liberal NTC conditions. The Islanders will have plenty of cap space once guys like Panik and or Bellows are sent down.

    My Chara comment vanished. One more time…
    If I remember correctly, Chara became elite after going to Boston. Boston promptly petitioned the league to change their maximum stick length rule, and the league added 2 inches. For the first time in his NHL career, Chara didn't have to hunch over so much, and that made him even better.

    I know everyone is super paranoid because of Tavares, but I really don't think Barzal wants to leave.

    I gave you a 👍 up because you're excellent at work! I disagree (I think we’re allowed to agree, to disagree on this platform) I need to see a lot more from Barzal then 15 goals & 44 assist, 59 points in 73 games before I lock him up for years to come. I’m not hating or shading Barzy but that’s not good enough! Also, it’s time for all this talk of NEEDING a scoring Winger. No, an elite player raises the play of his teammates. He’s not kid anymore and the training wheels are off! He has to make do with the Wingers we have. They are who they are, it is what it is. Seriously, as much as I love Barzal? He needs to show us he’s the player we all think he is! They can negotiate all they want and that’s fine. But, if I’m Lou? I’m not signing anything until we’re close or at the trade deadline. Barzy needs prove that he’s back to his Calder Trophy days or better, With 15 G. 40 Assist in 73 games is just not good enough, nor does it justify a big time contract. In my humble opinion. Let’s hope he turns it around with 20 goals 70-80 assist. We’ll see?? Good show as always! 🙂
