Let me know your expectations for the Kings this off-season
Given a choice to upgrade the D core (Chycrun) or forward (Forsberg, Fiala etc), I choose the forward group. Their lack of offence is going to cripple their progress. Great to have all the prospects, but they need immediate help up front. Somehow can't see them throwing 9M at Forsberg (which is probably what he wants), but they might have interest in Fiala, who would be, (or should be) a bit cheaper. Lots of other less expensive forwards to choose from, especially via trade.
My trade proposal's Durzi,Bjornfot and there 1st for Chycrun and Alex Iafallo and Sean Walker for William Nylander LA has defensive depth for days especially down the right side even with Edler and Matta likley not returning i personally like and LA D-core of Doughty, Roy, and a mix of Brandt Clarke and Jordan Spence on the right side with Chychrun, Anderson, and Moverare on the left kinda get all you need 3 defense guys and 3 offensive guys and in my opinion an IA and Walker for Nylander makes sense for both teams all players fill a need TOR gets a reliable foward in Iafallo who can play top 6 averaged about 15 goals 40 pts on an offensively challenged LA team and is grinder work in the corners type player and Walker is RD who skates well (when healthy) sound defensively and can get you 35+ points and at $4 mil and $2.65 mil respectively Leafs save money and LA gets what they need goal scoring and maybe more importantly roster spots

The price for Chychrun is too high. Plus, we get back Doughty and Sean Walker next season. Add in Mikey Anderson, Matt Roy, Durzi, and Bjornfot, and that’s your top-6. Stetcher or Edler make sense as a 7th if they’d sign for cheap. Forsberg would be awesome, but we might need to dump someone like Iafallo to afford him.
Review the LA-Edmonton series and you have a better idea where the Kings are at along with strength and weaknesses.
Kings won’t make a splash in the off-season. I’d be surprised if they make any big moves. But they need a finisher. Can’t let this guy Iaffalo play in the top6 and est up 20+ mins a game.
Arizona leadership is looking to fleece whoever they can for Chychrun and tbh there are 4 guys under 22 who could be that guy plus more but go ahead and overpay with prospects just because you're flush with them? That mentality gets you zero prospects and overpaying on guys who don't contribute. Kings are more than one player from a cup yet everyone yelling how they need to sell the farm to get quality players but when you have the pool of prospects that the Kings do then you can play your hand until the plan is coming up empty. Kings are in schedule for the rebuild and to throw that away for one defenseman? Rob Blake is smarter than that.
Definitely need offense, Forsberg would be a great fit!
I would trade for Chychrun. Hope it is possible in exchange for Maatta, Turcotte and Vilardi. No Byfield and no Clarke.
Chichuran in a trade centered on a resigned Vilardi and Whealer would be my number one move. I kinda want to see them make a run at Claud Giroux. I'd pare him with Biefield and a resign Lemoux. I think his gritty offensive style would let him help both their developments immensely, and such a line would bring a massive upgrade to depth scoring as it would like sit as a 3rd line. Bring back Edler to pare with Cichran and you can stagger you two best offensive defenceman with Doubty obviously headling the top pair.
Defenseman Morgan Rielly from Toronto should be considered, he'd put a whole new dimension to the Kings and plus since the Maple Leafs are in a bit of a cap crunch (especially with Matthews and Marner's contracts up in a few years) they could get him at a bit less then his value.
I would then trade Sean Dursi to Ottawa for their 7th overall draft pick in the 2022 draft and select a high scoring winger that the team badly needs. I would also trade (including the Kings own 1st rounder) to get Buffalo's 9th overall pick for 2022 to select yet another high scoring promising winger. This draft is supposed to be much better than not only last year's but the last handful of years.
With the Defense that have proven themselves this post-season, I'm not sure I see why the Kings would entertain Chych as an option, when a player like Fiala just had a monster season and resurged in his game.
Trade for Sanheim and sign a proven scorer. Moreover trade some of the kids for another proven scorer on the wing and/or sign veteran puck moving D man who also can play a shutdown role.
Nice overview, thanks! I would like Fiala over Forsberg due to a trade over expensive free agt signing. On Left Dman, I like both Chychrn & Zadorov, as the latter would add toughness which the Kings need but he is a free agt and cap hit might be too much after getting a scorer like Fiala. They need to keep Grundstrom & B. Lemieux for toughness. AA has got to go due to his poor defense. Kempe can get 5 yrs @ $5 1/2m or $6m per yr but not 7 yrs or over $6m. One xlnt goal scoring year does not deserve a huge contract. Oh, give Kaliyev more opportinities in the top 6. Don't give up on Turcotte or Vilardi. Trade Durzi as we have too many RHD.
As a lifelong Kings fan it is my sincere sincere hope that we sign a 110% goal scorer to the roster it has been our need forever. With Dustin Brown retiring it gives somewhat of an opening on the wing in my mind for a guy like Fiala to come in. Us getting Chychrun would be insane and I am positive it would impact us greatly but in my mind a superstar consistent goal scorer is by far our number one priority. I am hoping for Fiala, but if we were feeling extra aggressive (which I doubt we will be haha) I would be all in on a financial restructuring in order for us to be able to afford Gadreau on a 5-7 year deal! I am very curious to see what the offseason has in store for us, GKG!!!
