This had to happen, new system is what we needed. I really like what Wheeler said in the interview and these retards (not you) are still shitting on him. My favourite Wheeler moments were when in 2016 Laine scored on us and Wheeler consoled him on the bench and his 1st period hattrick vs. Pittsburgh. I hope he retires a Jet. And thr ads are BS.

That was a solid PR move. Announce the appalling news of an ad on game day sweaters then 20 minutes later announce Wheelers demotion. Nice slide True North.
Sheifele and Wheeler were #2 and #3 point producers on the team last season… Wheeler missed half the season and still was a better point producer than PLD. The only player better was Kyle Connor… Sheifele and Wheeler don't need to "find their game" other players need to step the f*ck up and the fans need to shut the f*ck up!

I think it's for the best for the organization. Getting rid of players who don't want to be there creates a bad atmosphere in the lockeroom. That being said, I think Ehlers should be captain. Connor, Morrissey or Lowry is another choice. But I feel that Ehlers is the player that will be there long term. He will probably be the heart and soul of year team.
i'm very surprised that the organization allowed this to happen but i'm definitely happy about it

This is great news to me as I got very bad vibes from Wheeler being a Jets fan,
for his leadership role as Captain. Well Rick Bowness is the new boss in town,
and Wheeler and Scheifele won't be running the team anymore, where they just
stepped all over Maurice. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Bowness can
do with this talented hockey club, that has underacheived. I've being saying for
the last 2 years, first step to fix this club, is get rid of Wheeler, and because they
couldn't trade him, they did the next best thing for now. I believe he was the cancer
in the dressing room, so I hope to see a new invigorated team. I'm sure Wheeler
won't be a problem in his "new role" and he'll be a good 2nd line player the Jets
can use, because he's still pretty good, just not worth the $ 8 mil he gets.

If jets suck first half of season definitely could see them trying to trade wheeler, scheifele,PLD,Gagner, Harkens, Schmidt, Pionk,Dillion or Stanley.
The team underperforming was not wheelers fault. He never takes a game off like a Sniffles does. I still think is a good move tho, shake the group up. They better strip the A off Sniffles jersey as well.
