Little fun fact, Tkachuck was 5th in the league in hits, and 8th in the league in points. He's the only player who is top 10 in both categories.
I think this also shows the guys in that room that Zito means to win here. He's not accepting mediocre and that no one is safe. Not even the best players. He puts the franchise first, now, and future.

I think we need to get another defender, move duke to another team, go after Jakob Chychrun, give up the little draft capital we have up. Ekplad and Chychrun will certainly put us over the edge and we will figure it out with the 3-6 defenders. Team is in solid shape bob is a great goalie but this block buster trade was a big part of bobs contract, i think personally. Really enjoy how young the core is.

I think Tkachuk needs to play with Barkov. He’ll be everything that Reinhart and/or Giroux was supposed to be.
I’ve seen a lot of fans bashing Zito.. I don’t get that. I think the Panthers are coming out winners in this. I’m fired up after watching Tkachuk’s season highlights

So thankful we have a GM with the balls to do the right thing. Been saying a couple years now that we need to commit to either Barkov or Huberdeau– but not both. Great players, love them– but they were bad for one another. Your top two alphas can't be silent leaders.
Huberdeau was older than I thought he was, but when Maurice was in Carolina, he always split up Skinner and Eric Staal who were the two best offensive players on the team at that time, so that is something to go on with him as to what he might do with Barkov and Tkachuk .
IMO this trade was such a smart move for the organization all around.
One has to think that the outcome vs. Bolts played a major part in Zitos decision process. The core was getting old, Tampa isn't going anywhere, and the Rangers are coming. The Tkachuk trade probably extends our Cup window 3 or 4 years.
