  1. Minnesota has 14mill in dead cap the next couple years. Minnesota is looking long term. Get yourself a decent prospect and a first round pick for the future once the dead cap falls off. Good move on both ends. Billy G trying really hard to keep Minnesota relevant when that Parise Suiter deal should have sunk them for years.

  2. I think the Wild did it to themselves. Those buyouts were going to be awful for them. Having to somewhat give away Fiala is about what you’d expect. Not completely free, but not as much as he’s worth.

  3. Kevin Fiala is a regular season monster…. BUT!! A post season ghost… Wild 100% won the trade

  4. Team that gets the best player in a trade is usually the winner; thus I think Kings got the better of this trade; kudos to Rob Blake! Now let's get Chychrun for IA, draft pick & prospects!

  5. Wtf are you talking about a beast this last season? Terrible 90 percent of the season. The last 20is games, he was good. THAT'S IT!

  6. Stoked about this for LA. Was looking forward to seeing Faber come up but with who else will be coming up soon and what we really need more than anything, this couldn't have gone better.

  7. I’m a Kings fan, and I love this trade for the Kings. They probably don’t sign him if he hit free agency. I like it for the wild too. They were two weeks away from losing him for nothing. Any Wild fan that gripes about the return, just remember that. And the organization has been higher on Faber than national scouting coverage for years, you may have a diamond in the rough. Go Wild, unless you’re playing the Kings 😉

  8. Apparently, Fiala indicated he would not sign an extension with Jersey and maybe some other teams.

  9. FYI, LA Rob Blake got turned down after offering Faber a contract. He announced his intention to play out his draft rights time as a college student and leave for his home in Minnesota. He has family in the Wild org.

  10. There is gonna be some serious regression to the mean for Fiala. I think Fiala is good but I'm not a fan of him. Way too many turnovers, lapse in judgement when it comes it comes to the defensive side and too many stretches of games that he is non-existent. He had a good year but he need the right players and right situation around him to succeed as much as he did this year. Not saying he can't do it again or even surpass the 85 point season he had, my feelings are that he will be a 50-70 point player… which isn't bad. My personal opinion is that he is not going to be worth the $8m a year average.

As far as the value the wild got… I think it was fair. The situation that the Wild were in and then Debrincat becoming available I believe hurt the Wild's chances on getting a better draft pick. I do like Faber a lot, he'll be a top 4 defenseman. He reminds me a lot of Jonas Brodin but I don't think he will be as good as Brodin.

  11. Far from a fleece. First of all the Kings or any other team for that matter weren't going to pay market value for Fiala considering everyone knew the Wild couldn't afford to keep him. Getting a first round and a dman prospect that I think it going to be easily a top 4 guy in the NHL is pretty damn good. Also does anyone really think Fiala is worth 8 million a year?

  12. I like it a lot. Great drafts have made it ok to use couple picks is good to use for a trade to ge t a proven player

  13. Clickbait !!
The Wild need cap space. Still paying for dead wood in Parise and Suter.
Fiala is a quality player: but the contract doesn't work for the Wild.

  14. The Minnesota Wild got absolutely fleeced. Minnesota could have kept Fiala, but the GM wants to keep the vastly overpaid Spurgeon and the defensive liability that is Dumba. Fiala broke the Minnesota Wild points record this season, and if not for Kaprizov shattering it as well, Fiala would have been a local sports hero.

  15. Does anyone in Minnesota believe that having Spurgeon on the Wild roster is better than having Fiala? That is the position GM Bill Guerin put the Wild in when signing Spurgeon to that awful contract that was overpriced and had a no move clause. The Wild have three years of cap hell, but for being "all-in" last season, the Wild were still "one and done" in the playoffs after giving up assets at the trade deadline they could have used down the road.

  16. You don't seem to be considering the intangible aspect here. Look at Fiala's history. Everyone questioned why Nashville dumped a talent like Fiala off to Minnesota when, at the time, they were top contenders for the Cup. David Poille, the Preds GM, is not known for making dumb moves. So here is the whole story. Fiala & Arvidsson had a physical altercation in the locker room & most of the other Preds thought Fiala was a locker room cancer & a bit of a prima donna. Now the Kings will have that dynamic in their locker room.
