  1. I think Jack Hughes should’ve fired his agent unless he purposely wants to take a team friendly contract. He absolutely could’ve made more than 8 million per season long term. Stützle is a little bit less guaranteed to live up to it because of how bad has even strength offence and defensive game was this season. Does he have a good chance of living up to it? Yes but it’s also a little bit more risk than some of the other young players that have taken some more type of routes with their contract.

  2. Jack was on pace for the number of points of what looks like stutzles MAX POT. Hughes is better at EVERY single thing except hits and slightly worse faceoffs.
Stutzles contract is solid with slight risk and decent upside but jacks contract is a bargain already(he would be worth at least 9.5+ right now and his contract hasn’t even started)

  3. Fans of other teams should not forget that he got 60 points playing w 3rd liners (that sucked and is the reason y they are not in Ottawa no more) and that most of his shift he was the most talented and electric player on the ice for both teams….

  4. Probably at the time of signing it’s similar risk (at least in terms of points). In terms of impact on the ice, Jack
was better his 1st two years. Comparing what they are right now, Jack is clear by a mile.

  5. Timmy was a point per game in the final 35 games of the season after the move to center. He's back playing his natural position, now has DeBrincat and Giroux on his line instead of Joseph and Formenton. In 2 years Ottawa could be paying their best player on the team 8.35 million which is a Slam Dunk Cap Contract

  6. Tim's stats are also skewed by how long he played on the wing. Now that he is where he should be his numbers will explode.

  7. Stutzle is going to be a super star… New linemates, new contract and ready to light it up!

  8. Can people not say they are both good long term contracts for their respected teams? Does the internet really have to quibble about 350k?

  9. Stutzle played a full pro season in Germany prior to the NHL so he and Jack have played the same amount of years Pro. Great player but definitely not on Jack's level, nor is Lafreniere who went ahead of Stutzle.

  10. Timmy's contract may be a bit of a gamble.. in the same sense as going all in on a full house in poker.. could be a bust but most likely will look like a great deal in a few seasons when salary caps start going up and point per game players start making 9+ mil on the regular

  11. Anyone who relies on advanced stats might be misled…anyone who has ACTUALLY WATCHED THE GAMES will already understand how dynamic Stutzle is.

  12. As far I can tell there’s no signing bonus money in Jimmy Stu’s deal…yet another reason why the Sens and Dorion have dominated this off season. Sens players don’t get signing bonus money it’s all salary. Shrewd move but it’s been made possible by Dorion

  13. Stützle's deal doesn't have any signing bonuses. Also, when you factor in taxes, Hughes takes home more than Stützle.

  14. Id compare Tim stutzle to David kreji. I wouldn’t expect franchise player like lego likes to throw around to every prospect :/ really solid and reliable 2nd line play making center. Solid contract, will age okay but not your #1 piece moving forward.

  15. At the time of their contracts Hughes was driving play at an elite level and generating a ton of chances and just wasn’t getting the production. The opposite happened for Stutzle. He’s terrible at generating offense 5 on 5 and driving play yet he’s accumulated points.

  16. All us Sens fans are happy. Timmy will likely top 70pts this season, as a 20yo, and when the cap goes up in a few years, this will be a nice contract for us.

  17. I think ultimately these will both end up being great contracts for two players who are going to be great over the course of those deals. That all said, and I am biased as a Sens fan, and I've watched a lot more Timmy than Jack, but I just think Stutzle has potential to be so much better than Hughes. I just feel like anyone who doesn't think he's going to be a very special player hasn't been watching him. I would take Timmy over Jack, no hesitation.

  18. You meant "the biggest signing in Ottawa Senators history" not "the next big signing in Ottawa Senators history" 😉

  19. I’m a fan of both players and have high expectations for both. It will be fun to see how they both develop and perform this year!

  20. Devils will face the sens in the finals at some
    Point mark my words !!!
