  1. These guys are idiots typical leafs take after losing a good player if he scores 30 this year it's a steal even at 25 its good deal but he also offers way more than that only thing I'd term coulda been 3 years but whatever

  2. Canucks need speed. Plan and simple. Not many players can skate 200ft and keep up with Connor McDavid. Not to mention his size. He’s got all the tools to be that power forward but he doesn’t need to pop in 30 goals. His job is to bring speed and havoc to Pettersson, Boeser. Horvat, Miller lines. Maybe Sheldon Keith was unsatisfied because he expected Mikheyev to finish his plays and score 30 goals. Rutherford has already discounted his 21 goals because he sees a different deployment of his skills. Including PK which is looking like Mikheyev and Lazar for forward pairing. Canucks PK was one of the worse.

  3. the second I hear you guys say this was a bad signing I stopped the video. If he nets 15-20 and is able to remain one of the PK guys in the league that alone makes him worth the money because the canucks are a strong 5v5 team and their PK solely lost them a playoff spot last year.

  4. I think he will be utterly missed in Toronto and they won't even make the playoffs with their terrible goalies and the Canucks win their division. As a Canucks fan, this is a slam dunk. Entering his prime and hasn't peaked yet. Our pk and speed is the main thing we needed to address

  5. To all you canucks hating on this dude. He's here if we like it or not. Why don't we support the poor dude instead of turning our back to him before he's even played a game.

  6. And fuck all you leafs fans. You lost him because you can't afford to pay anyone above market value because your you sank almsot half your cap into 5 players. You went from Soupy to Matt Murruy. Your teams a fucking joke

  7. It is a high amount given his stats, but remember Vancouver had Loui Eriksson at 6 million per year! I think Vancouver's new scouts see something in him and are willing to pull the trigger. IDK how he will be, but give it a year. You two may be eating humble pie at that point. We had Nat Schmidt for more money, OEL is also more, so is Tyler Myers. But will Mikheyev pan out? Some players dont blossom thier first couple of years, or thier first team. The hockey "experts" also failed to see the potential in players like Henrik Zetterberg 210th, Doug Gilmore 134th, Brett Hull 117th, Pavel Datsyuk 171st, Theo Fleury 166th, Luc Robitaille 171st, and the list goes on. If these experts cannot forsee the talent in those men, why do you think you can? You are going by stats, and I get that. Its the safe thing to do. But on the ice, I never saw anyone meet Connor McDavid stride for stride in a race for the puck and win EXCEPT Ilya Mikhayev. He isnt a playmaker so much, but a fast and aggressive player who is good at backchecking. The dynamics in Vancouver are far less hostile than Toronto, so give him a year! I am optomistic.

  8. This is a really bad take.
Just in points alone if you look at ten points per million. Mikheyev will surely hit 40-50 points which earns the value of his contract.

Not to mention his defensive/PK abilities (Which VAN needs) He had the most scoring opportunities on the PK for any NHL player last season. In addition, his shooting got way better.

The only issue is if can he stay healthy. The wrist injury was really unlucky and took him time to fully regain his form.

  9. I think Ilya will be a great fit on the 3rd maybe even 2nd we’re a faster team know and have depth only time will tell he also has a new team to for a nice refreshment

  10. Not even a Canucks fan, but I find it comical you dorks think every team signing a former Leaf is making a mistake.

So when Matthews signs in LA, Vegas, Arizona, or New York in 2 years, is that team making a mistake too?

  11. You’re just jealous that the Leafs have no cap space cuz your top 5 are so greedy that they took all your money

  12. But you guys brought in Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov to be you’re goalies. So there’s that. 😉

  13. He's brought in for the speed and help the other 2 Russians assimilate. Might be a deadly line kuzmenko podkolzin and him. Canucks gave beagle and a few other bums 4 mill. Don't mind 1 who can skate fast and set the tone for others speed in practice n games.

  14. Hockey players are all under payed compared to other professional sports. Why pick the shit out of pay checks.
Get rid of the salary cap.
Let poor teams fold, let moderately sucessful teams work harder and smarter to generate more franchase monies.
Does it seam unfair that a pro athlete make more than Doctors and teachers scientists…..yup.
Look at what hockey players made in the 50's and 60's compared to owners…now that was bullshit.
Never mind even discussing the unfair treatment of women athletes compared to their male counter parts.
Talk hockey and fuck the money

  15. I'm excited for this. Imagine him playing with a playmaker. Elias. You guys are going to miss him.

  16. Canucks will probably compete for a cup before Toronto does. I don't see how Toronto is as good now.

  17. $4.75 is not a salary for an elite player. It’s a middle 6 player salary.

For a Toronto fan to criticize ANY other team for overpaying players is just hilarious.

Toronto and Edmonton are absolutely legendary for terrible deals… Tavares, Nurse…

As for the Canucks not being a contender… when was the last time Toronto won a playoff series? Hmmm?
