  1. It's not just hockey culture. It's sports in general. If you have talent and can play you can always find a job in any of the four sports leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL). Michael Vick went to prison for dog fighting and he still had a job when he got out. It is a bad look and I wouldn't have signed him because I don't think he can play. Sports is about entertainment not to be a moral compass. These people are not heroes and should not be emulated.

  2. Bringing Virtanen also puts the players in an uncomfortable position. It’s their job to keep the locker room positive and upbeat. It’s their job to protect everyone in that room both on the ice and in the media. People are going to be angry when players say the token lines “he’s good in the room and we love having him around.” What else are they going to say? And then the public will deflect their anger to the wrong people.

  3. Moving away from the presumption of innocence is a dangerous road to down. Let’s use paranoia for example. Paranoia doesn’t operate on the presumption of positives (safety, security, stability…). It operates on the presumption of negatives (the whole world is out to get me).

So to say that Virtanen, or Kane, doesn’t deserve another shot at hockey would be operating on the presumption of guilt. Why else would you be against the idea of these guys playing for your team?

  4. Craig McTavish has his demons as well. Think about that. I don't care what happened with Virtanen. It is what it and life goes on. I just don't like the idea of him replacing Puljujärvi. Puljujärvi is still one of the best defensive forwards who when on the ice contribute on goals for than goals against.

  5. You guys are terrible…. virtanen was not guilty give it a rest …. if he plays right helps oilers …. if was convicted then ok ….
