As a canes fan I couldn’t wrap my mind around why they got rid of him. I’m glad things turned out good with Andersen though.
Goalies dont carry as much value in trades lol they knew what they wanted to do in net and just got what they could. It clearly workee out in our favour. Terrible video. Our front office is the best in the league
Terrible takes. Makes it worse that you actually think your right. Canes have the best goaltending if you look at goals saved above expected as of the new year. Detroit is at 19. Neds record is 500 and a 913 save percentage. I unsubbed
Freddy having a Vezina year and Ned overhyped. Plus, Raanta more SV% than Ned as a backup. Canes win the trade. Pool is stacked in goalies. Ned not worth more than a 3rd. Canes common win

I was ripping on Carolina at first but this is a win win trade for sure. Wings of course get a good young goalie that fits their timeline for just a 3rd. Ned in January 2022 is currently a top 15-20 goalie in goalie not a bad upgrade. For Carolina the get a 3rd round pick then signed an upgrade free of charge in free agency. That is be a gm type moves. Carolina is in win now mode Ned had a small sample size. Carolina always drafts well so can't blame them on this move anymore. Stevie still looks like a genius though
Freddy is gonna win the vezina and Ned has been average at best this year (10-8)… I’m not sure what I’m missing but I’m happy with the trade as a canes fan. Ned also openly said he wanted to move north to live with his girlfriend.
Great deal for Detroit but bad for Carolina, Didn't matter anyways because Nedeljkovic was going to get far more then what Carolina was willing to spend. Detroit got him for 2 x $3,000,000 he wanted at least 2 x $3,500,000 if not more to stay in Carolina.

Stopped this less than a minute in when he said “in a vacuum”. That just makes the entire argument null and void.
I mean Ned is younger than bernier, so Detroit can tailor Ned and get him used to a young team that’s only going up. Carolina might get the rest of Anderson’s contract and then he’s gonna be in his mid to late thirties. Which for a tendy, can be old. Still believe Detroit won this trade

And yet we are looking at Fred Andersen that has been electric. I don’t question DW anymore on the moves. Trochek, Nino, Andersen. I shut my mouth after all that and sitting where we are.

When you have a D core like the Canes they make any goalie in front of them better. That has shown this year for Ned in Detroit.
That trade definitely was pretty bizarre!
They weren't going to extend Bernie and trading an aging goalie for basically a rookie goalie with a high ceiling during a rebuild is never a bad trade. He got something for nothing.
Ned is out playing Griess and Bernie wasn't going to be resigned anyway…so how was this in any atmosphere a bad trade? Maybe for Carolina, but as you say, he was at the end of a rookie contract too.
I think he is a great back up just need a good starter.
