Let me know what you expect from the Stars this off-season
The Stars had a decent season, making the playoffs—good team defense but the lack of secondary scoring kept them from being better, record-wise. Good PP and average PK, altho the PK could use work. Also , the Stars will need a new Head Coach, as Coach Bowness has opted to step down, so, a new coaching perspective will be coming. The good news is that the new coach will inherit a very talented team, with Robertson leading the offense and Oettinger backstopping the team in goal.
The Stars had a very good season, making the playoffs and taking the Flames to 7 games in the first round. A -11 goal differential was not good, they definitely need more secondary scoring to move foward but the defense was pretty decent. Special teams overall were ok, the PP was good at 22.4%. The Stars will also need a new Head Coach, as Coach Bowness has opted not to return, so, a new coaching perspective will be coming. The good news is that the new coach inherits a pretty talented team, led by Robertson and Pavalski on offense and Oettinger in goal. And , what of John Klingberg ? Will he stay or will he go ? They have to lock up JR and Oettinger to keep things on the same level and keep the Stars a playoff contender. Waiting to see how the new coach is and what moves they make.
Stars have no choice but to make life extremely uncomfortable for Jamie Benn to get rid of that contract. Maybe start by stripping him of his C and making him sit out until he agrees to a trade.
I don't see the Kings having interest in John Klingberg like you speculated.
Right-handed defenders are something the team has an overabundance of and the team uses lefty-righty pairings to have guys on their strong side to pick up passes and clear pucks.

All guys competing for three right-handed slots next year with only Mikey Anderson signed next season on the left side who played in the playoffs.
Maata and Elder are both UFA leaving Bjornfot and Moverare as the only ones left with game experience from this past season.
Cap Space would be better invested elsewhere like going for a homerun swing with Kevin Fiala from Minnesota or a Chychrun and Crouse package deal with Arizona instead.
Biggest problem in Dallas are those horrendous deals with Benn and Seguin. Talk about a couple albatrosses weighing a team down. Klingberg is pretty much gone, they'll probably go with Wedgewood as the back up, D core is still decent, no scoring depth will continue to be a problem (no cap space) Think they'll stay around same level as this past season, maybe a slight dip. Only way to get rid of Benn/Seguin is via incredible level of sweeteners, and they have to approve it, so not a chance. Until those 2 cinderblocks are gone, Stars will have to tread water.
You got most of it right on, but you failed to address the most important issue facing the team, which is collecting all the horrific neon jerseys, throwing them in a pile, burning them, and pretending they never happened.
What's the status of Dal Goalie coach… Was he also let go?
Job #1-make sure Klingberg goes elsewhere.
#2-sign Robo, Otter, and Raffl
Let all the other bums go; bring up all the kids and let them play.
