Of course he is. He's an elite, large bodied, smart as hell, mobile defender that projects as a number 1 defenseman for the next 15 years. Elite defenders are just that much more coveted around the league over any other position. If Cale Makar went on the open market today, he'd command more money than any other forward aside from MAYBE McDavid or prime Crosby. Mo will get there soon enough, but every GM in the league would take Mo first overall in a redraft. That isn't a knock on Jack. It's just elite defenseman are harder to find.
Seider is already overrated
I took seider over many others, the hits alone in some leagues is worth it
This just makes me look forward to Hughes laying waste to these silly lists, this coming season. Regardless of the denial, the teams popularity ABSOLUTELY plays a part in all of this. One of the questions is, does Seider elevate the ENTIRE team, in the way Hughes does? Every time Hughes touches the puck, fans are on their feet. In the end, none of this really matters, really. I would rather look at this in 5-7years, when both players are really in their prime.
Anything yzerman touches is more valuable period
I need a Devils fan too tell me how Jack Hughes is better then guys like Kyrou, Pettersson or Thomas. If JHughes is 50 on NHLs Top50 I assume neither of those 3 made the list but I could make a good argument for all of them over JHughes.
The question is would you trade either of these guys for the other? Seider and Hughes get you points, but Seider prevents other players getting points against you. So I do value him more. We'll see how having better players around him helps Seider this season.
I can understand the fantasy aspect for Mo, the drop off between the best Dman and mediocre Dmam is larger than for forwards. However as overall talent Hughes has the edge.
First year in the league and Mo is already one of the best players, won the Calder for a reason. Only gonna get better from here, dman is more important than a forward
There are more Jack Hughes's in the NHL than there are Moritz Seiders. The fewer there are, the more valuable it is.
As a Wings fan, I hope Sieder proves to be as great as he seems to be and what everyone thinks he will be. At the end of the day though, we won't know until later on when all of them have been in the league for a good period of time.
The 2016 draft after top of 1st round was really weak
Eichel can still be a good top six forward, but I think his days of being elite are over.
I think we’re talking apples to oranges here. It’s like saying who is more valuable between mcdavid and shesterkin. If those 2 teams did a 1for 1 trade I think both organizations would have made a mistake
Don’t even have to watch this video, simple answer is not even close
How is Lego showing up in my Canadiens search even though his video contains zero Habs content?
Just put them both on the ice together 1 on 1. After Hughes limps off the ice without even clearing the blue line, you will have your answer.
Seider over Hughes likely has more to do with positional value. D is so much more valuable than a forward, and a right handed D even more so.
Seider. U cant win without dominant D
Seider is my favorite Red Wing since stevie. I get either loving Hughes or seider but I wouldn’t trade seider for anyone.
He’s not. It’s pure recency bias and ignoring what Hughes is.
Detroit has an improved roster so Seider should go up in his totals
Seider is the next Lidstrom.
Hughes will never be elite. Good but never a Top 10 player in the league. Moritz already a top 10 talent.
The same people saying Seider over Hughes are the same ones that said Hughes was a bust boy I can't wait to come back to this one 😂
As a Wings fan I’d love to have Hughes. But I wouldn’t trade Seider for him.
It’s close but I think the majority of people would still take Hughes first in a redraft. But we’ll have to see if that changes over time
As long as JH can't play a full season it's not even close.
I think Seider has way more upside than Hughes. Putting both around the same sounds right to me. I think Seider is more talented, given that he has less nhl seasons than Hughes. Time will tell on both.
