  1. Man that year they fired ruff and traded away the core still haunts me. The aura of losing around this organization is absolutely sickening. I hope this doesn’t take as long as the bills to figure it out!

  2. When Reilly got removed from the team, Eichel became the new Gilbert Perreault, an unbelievably talented player who is the only one of the caliber in the team, therefore he shoulders the entire team, and the amount of stress and pressure he feels must be draining

  3. Sure, the last 10 years have been rough. The last 4 seasons in particular I allowed my expectations to raise a little as on paper, they coulda been ok(not to mention 2 of those seasons had crazy good starts!) But I aint going anywhere and all this pain will make the day we win all the sweeter! Even if that day doesn't come for decades!
And yes, I am delusionally loyal!😉

  4. I think that they need new ownership. Or the pegulas get their head out of the gutters and build a winning culture, rather a losing culture.

  5. Carolina Hurricanes 3 years in a row. Rod Brind A Mour just got the Jack Adams trophy!

  6. How do you feel about San Jose? Would love to get your thoughts on what they need to get back the the Stanley Cup.

  7. I do think their jersey looks good. That pure white one with the gold team log is among one of the best in my opinion.

  8. This might be a lot of work but if they didn’t make the playoffs and didn’t trade away their first round pick can you say when they drafted at and who.

  9. As an 18 year old Sabres fan who hasn’t seen playoffs since I was 7 years old… They need to gut the core that has been taught how to lose. That means Eichel, Reinhart, Ristolainen, etc… We can’t keep this losing culture. We absolutely hate seeing them go (except maybe Risto lol) but it has to be done. They have to restart. I know from experience with losing hockey games. It mentally drains you. You have no confidence. I played travel hockey for probably 10 years and never won more than 3 games a season. It sucked. Decided to play house instead to enjoy hockey again… Win back to back championships. I found my love for the game again. There’s something about losing that drains you. My heart will hurt when Eichel goes, but I genuinely believe we won’t make the playoffs until that core of “losers” is shed

  10. me upon seeing the title: what playoff history?

    i'm sorry sabres fans

  11. what was the connection between Mr Abel and Mr Bowman, Jack not Stan ??

  12. Last three years with Ullmark in net they actually had a winning record….problem he is always hurt and misses half the season….backups have been horrible.

  13. The connection kindof, is the 1971 Blues, where Mr Abel is able to coach Scotty's St Louis Blues even for so much as part season. Mr Abel hires Jack to be scout for the KC Scouts in approx 74, then when Mr Abel is done in KC, so is Jack and Mr Jack Bowman goes to scout for the Sabres until 1998 including his time as Director of Scouting.

  14. I'm a forever North Star fan but I LOVED the late 80s-ealy 90s Sabres. They could score and they were tougher than any Philly team from the 70s or early 80s. I was one of the early adopters on the NHL "Center Ice" cable stuff and I ALWAYS watched a Sabres team with LaFontaine, Mogily, Andreychuk, Hawerchuk, and the best fourth line tough guys like May, Donnelly, Miller, Ray, Wells etc . Pat LaFontaine had 53 goals and Alex Mogilny had 76. Wow.

  15. After the 06-07 season they lost 6 players to free agency which sunk their team (same thing happened to Caroline after winning the Cup) The big thing is the Sabers relied on Goaltending with the Dominator and Miller once they where gone the team sank. A the error of mostly John Muckler players was over and with bad GM it ended any success

  16. Yeah start with 2000, makes sense. But do you remember 1999? The year the NHL scammed the Sabers from the Stanley Cup

  17. Oh this is going to be sooo sad ..(reaching for the napkin) .. please do continue .. and you were saying?

    Cheers 🍺

  18. Wait just a minute fella. Remember, 2006 we win the Presidents Trophy. ONLY reason we do not win the Stanley Cup is we lost 4 starting defensemen to injury for game 7 vs Carolina. Still go to the third with a 3-2 lead. If we had Tallinder we win the Cup

  19. As a Sabres fan, I lived through all of those seasons. However, I'd forgotten about the Cody Hodgson era. I washed that awful taste out of my mouth long ago. Thanks for reminding me Shannon. Bleh.

Roy, Afinogenov, the horrors I've seen. The black holes of hockey pucks, never a return pass to be seen. Where two on one's go to die. Hockey gods, all I want is a center who can pass and win a faceoff. Is it too much to ask for, how much more must I suffer?

  20. Buffalo trades Eichel and I think they can count on a couple more years off

  21. :06: Let the pain begin. Can see right away. Only six magnets of other teams symbolizing years the Sabres made the playoffs and there are NO magnets on the entire right side of the board.

  22. 3:22 " Maybe Buffalo needed a year off". So, if the NHL had cancelled last year's playoffs, then Ralph Krueger and Taylor Hall would be in the final four right now, leading the Sabres to possibly upsetting the Lightning for the right to go to the Stanley Cup Final!

  23. They came out of the lockout so successful because they had a ton of speed and skill. Whereas a lot of the other teams in the East had bigger teams for the most part

  24. Following the hockey since the 2011 finale so Buffalo is the only team that I've never saw in series

  25. I love the Sabres, even tho the Sabres always finish at the bottom they are always rated in the top 5 teams in TV viewership.

  26. You failed to mention there entire D core was ravaged by injuries that Carolina series and I mean the EVERY defenseman got hurt… just a shame ya know

  27. Man, the 05-06 Sabres had an AHL defense for that CAR series. I so think they could've won the cup that year if they weren't plagued by injuries.

  28. Longtime sabres fan I like watching your videos I’m just looking for any hope you can shed on this team

  29. You failed to mention that after back to back conference finals the Sabres lost both Briere and Drury in FA which is a major reason for them not being nearly as good

  30. It’s funny, I moved to Buffalo in 2005 as an 8 year older kid, and fell in love with hockey and the Sabres. That next year they were the best team in the NHL, and it was downhill from there. I only rediscovered my love for hockey this past year, because the Sabres became so depressing to watch it literally killed my love for the sport. I will always bleed blue and gold as a hockey fan, but you can’t fucking say being a fan of any other team is as hard as being a Sabres fan, ESPECIALLY these days. You expect nothing, and are still disappointed.

  31. A franchise that had potential even earlier than 1999-2000 season. Those were the times Buffalo should've had a cup or two, it's a shame they never got it done. Multiple teams in the East were fighting in the mid 2000's to get off the no-cup list back then and honestly Buffalo might have not had the stuff they needed to go all the way against Carolina, Ottawa. Out of those three teams that were trying to get off that list of no cups only Carolina was able to get off that list. Ottawa could've had two chances at the cup, one in 2005 if it haven't been for the full lockout, and obviously in 2007 when they played Anaheim. Eventually I hope they don't have to wait a whole lot longer for that opportunity to win their cup.
