The Bruins made the playoffs as a wild card team. Most of their wins came against teams that missed the playoffs. They took Carolina to 7 games but, the Hurricanes played their 2nd and 3rd string goalies. To me it was clear that the players had tuned out Cassidy. Now, Sweeney signed Belesky, Backes, Nick Richie, Brent Richie, Foligno… Sweeney overpaid Coyle. The Bruins need to trade Pastrnak before he leaves for nothing in free agency. The Avalanche were terrible and missed the playoffs in 9 out of 11 seasons 2008/2009-2016/2017. The Bruins should use Colorado as an example of how to rebuild a team. Where is Charlie Jacobs as the ship is taking on water?
Just embarassing that out of that 2015 draft year, the Bruins passed on so many good player you could build around. The best player out of those three 1st round picks is DeBrusk, which is just a joke. He's barely a 2nd liner. I dont get how they'd pass on Connor, Chabot, and Barzal for DeBrusk lmfao. The irony is that there was a rumored issue DeBrusk had with Cassidy leading people to think there was a rift between coach and players and Cassidy getting fired. This decision to draft DeBrusk strikes again.
It’s going to be coach after coach trade after trade with all the same bad results until the locker room cancer is traded. Every team Taylor Hall has played on has never achieved any success what so ever and never will. He was -6 in the playoffs this year with just 4 points, 12 years in the league and 5 teams later he has put a curse on every team he has played for.

Sweney is pure garbage at drafting. Its like you could give him 10 first round picks and he would still pick duds.
The Bruins NEED to rebuild. They have NOTHING at centre. Your team is only as good as your top two centres, that's your team. That time bomb has been ticking for years!
Whit hit the nail on the head, no one to blame besides Sweeney. Draft history is a complete flop, with many questionable trades and free agency signings.

I honestly thought in 2016, the Bruins were going to rebuild, but they chose the re-tool route and Sweeney messed up in the drafts, signing guys. Now, the Bruins are stuck. Not good enough to win a cup, but also not bad enough to tank. This might be a Detroit scenario (pre-Yzerman) where they're trying to make the playoffs every year, guys are aging, and the team is slowly dying until they're forced to accept a rebuild. What do they realistically have in the cupboard once Bergeron leaves, Marchand wants out, and Pasta leaves?
Cassidy is actually a good coach. He got everything out of this team.

I really hope they can lock in pasta man. We cannot afford to lose him… like the guys were saying, you rebuild to get guys like him, not to f’n deal them to other teams. The upper management is a disaster, sweeny and Neely need to go. But we know Jacobs won’t do anything about that.
