  1. After watching Giroux's 1,000th game played (all with the Flyers) and likely final game as a Flyer, I remember the excitement, optimism and awe I felt watching him as he started his career. It's painful to think I'll probably never see him take the ice again in the orange and black. Here's hoping he wins a Cup before he calls it quits. He deserves it. Thanks for the memories Captain.

  2. Love him even being a Pens fan
Claude I swear he had a mirror on his shoulder
Nobody could throw a hit on em from behind 😅

  3. I watched part of this last night as my fiance is a Flyers fan. I have watched the cap grow as a great player and to see my fiance light up when he is on the ice. I will never wear the orange and black but if that was Claude's last game, you are one of the best and Philly will not be the same with out you. As a Devils fan, this is hard to write but well deserved. #28

  4. Ranger fan coming in peace. Very classy, Philly. Always respected Claude. Plus he and I feel the same about Crosby. Congrats.

  5. Dammit that got me 😢. I can still remember BC messing his name up in the draft. Outstanding job G!! Hopefully I will get the chance to see him play Nashville next week, but something tells me it's not going to happen unfortunately.

  6. Fitting that he had 0 points in that game.
Captain Cupless has 4 goals in his last 35 playoff games. Good riddance!

  7. Nice to see him get this. Now that it's finished, let's get him traded to Pittsburgh to screw with Flyer fans and hopefully get him a chance to get a cup.

  8. I'm a Pens fan, so naturally I'm supposed to hate the Flyers, but it is kinda sad to see Giroux go. The rivalry won't be the same without him. End of an era.

  9. I'm a Flyers fan ever since 27 Hextall and I'm not hurt at all Giroux gave us what he could the Flyers organization couldn't and if they do trade him it will be funny if the Flyers win a Cup without him in the years to come 🤣😂🤣😂

  10. Pretty crazy to think that there have been only 360+ players in NHL History to play a thousand games in their careers and only 71 have done it with one team. I really had no idea how rare that is. Shows how tough it is to play on the league.

  11. Anybody who said Simmonds should be captain should return to their cave. I've always loved giroux. Most loyal athlete in Philly

  12. Would’ve sucked if his 1000th game was right after the trade deadline hahaha

  13. Special moment for the captain . He’s good and it’s say he’s gotta go after this season.

  14. Thanks G. Good luck, I hope you get a Stanley Cup!!! You're the same age as my son and have been his favorite player from day 1. You're awesome!!!

  15. Flyer fan for past 21 years and Groo's always been my favorite. Living in Nashville area since last October and work overnights so I obviously didn't get to see this but thanks to Rogers Sportsnet for showing this from NBC Sports Philadelphia's feed!

I hope to be back in Lehigh Valley permanently by late summer/early fall if not sooner. I remember Groo from when we drafted him to see the player a lot of us believed he would get to. I pray like hell that he stays but I'm not sure that happens. One can hope, right?

Love the team but they piss me off because if wr want to see players like Groo win a Cup, it's always elsewhere, NEVER in Philly as it should be. Love the team but the management is effing clueless on how to win it all. 😓

  16. Sure playing 1000 games in the same city, let alone in the NHL, is a massive accomplishment. And yes, whatever playoff bound team Giroux ends up with will be better off with him in their lineup, as well. But for a cat like myself who has been watching the Flyers since there inception into the NHL, I would not even place him (Giroux) on my Top 20 All-Time Flyers list in terms of overall skill & his impact (and or lack there of) on the team either.

  17. As a Pittsburgher and life long Penguins fan, i have tremendous amounts of respect for G. Hes always been a fun rival to play against because of how talented he is and how he plays the game. Hes a great leader for this team and will always be remembered as one of the best to wear the orange. These ceremonies are always emotional but this one felt extra emotional because im pretty sure everyone knew this wasnt just celebrating his 1000 games as a flyer, but also saying goodbye…they knew this was his final game. I hope when he hangs it up he comes back to philly one final time even if its just a one day contract because he is the epitome of what it means to be a Flyer

  18. Thanks for the memories Claude. From a loyal flyers fan and fan of yours, I appreciate you. So sorry we didn't get to the promise land and that the flyers put an extreme amount of unnecessary pressure on you by slapping the C on your jersey. I believe that it affected him negatively more so then anything else. Guess we didn't learn from Lindros.. The Golden rule.. You never give the C to a player on your team merely based off nothing other then, "he's the best player on the team". Giroux will be sorely missed but I hope he gets his cup in Florida.

  19. What the heck is this? This guy ain’t retired, he’s just getting traded. Why don’t they save this for a jersey retirement.

  20. 1000 games and 0 Stanley Cups.
10 seasons as captain with only 1 playoff series win under his leadership.
4 goals in his last 35 playoff games.

    Good luck with that, Florida!

  21. I’m gonna miss G here. But, what does that say about the club? He lost faith and they need a REAL owner? Anyway, best of luck to him. Godspeed #28
