Zacha was traded to the Bruins because Don Sweeney wants players from the 2015 draft that haven’t done anything since being drafted. As in, every player that was obviously selected way to high in the draft.

As a Sharks fan, I'm disappointed with the return. It would've been better if they had gotten a draft pick that wasn't in the 3rd round. I don't just mean an earlier draft pick, I mean anything outside of the 3rd round. The Sharks have better results from every other round of the draft compared to 3rd rounders. 5 3rd rounders of theirs have ever played an NHL game, and that includes a goalie who played a grand total of 2 periods of NHL hockey and a guy who played 11 games. The best 3rd rounders they've picked were Thomas Greiss and Ville Peltonen. In the meantime, they've had 13 4th rounders play in the NHL, the best of whom were Christian Ehrhoff and Vesa Toskala, they've had 16 5th rounders, the best of whom were Marcus Ragnarsson and Miikka Kiprusoff, 13 6th rounders, the best of whom were Ryane Clowe, Nick Bonino, and Kevin LaBanc, and 13 7th rounders, the best of whom were Joe Pavelski, Justin Braun, and Daddy Demers. Hell, in the 8th round they had 5 players (Douglas Murray being the best), 3 9th rounders (Nabby being the best), and 1 10th, 11th, and 12th rounder (none of whom reached 100 games).

37 and 3 more years on this deal vs paying TDA for 2 years and for less and zero assets given up? Not sure the move here by the Canes. Yes, he should do better under a better team structure in CAR, but… he's 37, and has a deal until he is 40 and his D metrics are just awful.
