  1. if You keep banging Your ead against the wall eventually You either stop it or You knock Yourself out. Its time to figure this out either trade get Players that have more Guts or keep this core and individually look gret but never win a cup.

  2. Brendan Shanahan needs to be the first one fired and someone else needs to evaluate the organization.

  3. The current Leafs remind me of The Sharks with their line up of Thornton, Heatley, Marleau, Nabokov, Boyle, etc and on paper they were amazing and would have great seasons, people would pick them to win the Cup…then they would lose in the first round (maybe second) for many years.

  4. The reason Keefe has a high % of being fired is because Dubas's job is on the line. A mid season slump Dubas either has to let go of Keefe or sign his fate with him, because when you look at it Keefe's teams have all fallen flat in winner take all games and if the that happens again it should be Keefe/Dubas going.

  5. Hey! Steve, are you covering the Leaf exhibition games on your Dangle podcast?

  6. Dubas good traits: he can tell who’s a superstar like any other fan in the world (overpaying Tavares, Marner) most gms would’ve done that

Dubas bad traits: Terrible trades(kadri for Barrie, Malgin for Marchment, 1st rd pick for foligno), terrible contracts(Mrazek, Murray, Muzzin, terrible drafting in alignment with the teams needs(only drafts players 5’9 and under), doesn’t understand that you need players that don’t get points to win in the playoffs

  7. They keeping dubass!!! The greatest gm to put together the greatest team that the NHL has ever seen!!! Book it!!!

  8. There’s been many great regular season teams That can’t win in the playoffs And it comes down to the way they were built. That’s what history teaches us but Dubas groupies Will never see it. All they wanna do is tell you how amazing he has been even though he has no results. Regular season results with no playoff success means nothing

  9. I was 100% against Leafs signing Dubas day 1, just from the big unknown factor of how could this kid succeed in the NHL. I am also a resident of London, Ontario so I am fully aware that the stocked cupboards the Leafs had when Dubas took over, was directly because of the Hunters being involved in drafting the years prior and had set the Leafs up for great success with or without Dubas. My MAIN ISSUE being Hunters knew Kadri, Marner, among so many other notable Hunter/ London Knight connections. Shanny is to blame for the contract mess Dubas was immediately thrown into, which becomes even more of an issue to note when John Tavares a long time ago London Knight wants to now play with Marner and the Leafs. How Shanny could choose an unknown in Dubas over Hunter who has a decade of ties to Leafs up and coming stars and Tavares. How could anyone logically expect Dubas to be able to command the same level of championship team building poise that Hunter was capable of exuding in contract negotiations, Its not a grey area here, Its very black and white; Hunter would have signed all of them to cheaper contracts that is not an opinion that is a fact. So right away if Hunter was promoted to GM it would have guaranteed cheaper contracts for the core 4. Now we focus back on Dubas who for the first couple of years fumbled the ball drastically, after failing to lock down the core 4 for cheaper he spent the next 2-3 seasons shedding all of the skill depth that Hunter worked so very hard to get them into the mix. I understand Dubas wants to put his own stamp on the team, which means flipping players and extending the re tooling because you have more new players on the team than returning players so its pretty much everyone learning Keefes systems all over again each year. Where as if Hunter was promoted he would have been able to make different decisions(not going to say better or worse for this part because we'd never know just different decisions) on which players they keep and shed. I'm confident in my knowledge of the Hunters to state this is now the 2nd major area Shanny is to blame because the Hunters always manage to keep/make moves for the best available players which would have helped them keep better depth longer and likely been the catalyst of the Leafs tipping past 1st round a few years ago and back to Dubas who just short of sneezed and pushed everyone out wasting an extra 3 years. <—Shanny is to blame again.

My opinion of Dubas has fully flipped 180 degrees now though, When you factor all of these internal hurdles he's jumping over, as well as all of the external hurdles of everything the Leafs as well as the rest of us have gone through with these covid years, to singularly focus on the product on the ice is likely the best approach, you have to give Dubas a ton of credit for pushing the Leafs to be a top 3 team in the Atlantic year after year. He's now finally managed to put his stamp on the team and after putting the struggles created by Shanny behind them as a team, the Leafs finally have a solid 2 years in a row here where they had a legitimate chance to go deep. The transition years don't count towards the "core learning to win" years unfortunately so When you look at everyone equally in Leafs management, My money is on firing Shanny first now.

Dubas and Keefe can both stay with the Leafs, they have both proven they are capable of the appropriate adjustments, they just truly haven't had as many years at trying as it seems like they have due to the waves in the water created by Shanny. Including this upcoming season thats about to start I'd give both Dubas and Keefe another 2-3 seasons to push past the 1st round finally.

Sort of works out great with Matthews that way as well, cause if they don't make it past the 1st round he's 100% not coming back to the Leafs so Matthews contract should be the ticking time bomb here for this core. If the Leafs get past 1st round in the next 2 seasons its likely that everyone keeps their job.

TL:DR – We should be calling for Shannys head long before Dubas or Keefe whether they make it past the 1st round this year or not.

  10. Maple leafs have nobody that’s tough and crap goaltending you won’t go far in playoffs especially since they are turnover machines. They will be done 1st round agin guaranteed.

  11. The fact that he didn't get fired when they lost to Montreal is mind freaking blowing. Any other team would have canned him the next day. The team is built to be good on the EA games, that's it. You guys have never seen a winner so its not shocking that you have no idea what they need.

  12. Its unfortunate that all the Leafs are shooting for this season is to win ONE round and not setting the bar higher ( like a Conference final appearance or Stanley CUp final appearance ) It;s like if they win ONE round we are supposed to celebrate like we won the CUp .Sad Sad for the organization and the city

  13. Dubas dosnt know what he's doing over paying everyone now sandin wants to cash out know Dubas will pay lol. Trade holl and sign sandin wake up

  14. The Leafs require context. This is an historically unsuccessful team despite their long history. Given their absolute lack of a winning culture and history, this current team is easily their best ever (at least in the last half century), and as such leafs fans should be more excited than worried. Sure they haven't won a round in almost 20 years but there's no way this team never gets a round eventually. A lot of other franchises would have less patience for this kind of choking but the Leafs have a good thing going for once so just be happy.

  15. People in the comment section: I didn't watch the video, I'm just mad that the title would even question whether Dubas should be fired. Read my boomer analysis instead.
