Let me know your thoughts on these expensive long term buyouts…what comes next for the Wild?
I was in grade 4 when they signed now going into second year university that’s crazy.
I remember being so pissed when the wings didn’t get these guys . Hind sight is 20/20 but thank God Holland didn’t get that one done .

13 year contracts, crazy! Thank God the NHL has limited contracts now to 7/8 year terms (would even be better at 5/6 or 6/7), this type of mess can now be avoided.

Forget trade for Suter now. Leafs should see if Parise and Suter want to sign a one year contract in Toronto to win the Cup.
Yea this looks like the Wild will truly chase Eichel here. So Fiala, Dumba as a part of the deal to free up more cap space, Then you have to add Boldy in there and maybe both first round picks.
Or a Trade that could be much much bigger, Jack, Sam and Risto to the Wild for Fiala, Dumba, Kahkonen, Rossi, Boldy, and both first.
With so many players that will be bought out and so many free agents this year I say the Kracken and The Bolts will be in the Stanley cup final next year lol . Just kidding . But it will be interesting to see what the GMs will do in the off season . Cheers

If players only would play for the love of the game. These days it’s all about 💰 for Most of them. They should be signing. They don’t care about Champions or they would sign for less and fewer years to a contender.

Wild hunting for a Center1 to play with Kap 97. Dumba, maybe even Fiala will be sweeteners/trade bait for that Center
Wild are out on Eichel this is a 100% a retool and those guys were the last 2. I think you will watch the Wild just draft players for the next 2 season before making a big move again.
Dumba isn't going anywhere. Suter would not have been bought out if he was.
The Red Wings wanted to sign Parise & Suter. Thankfully Ken Holland failed.

Parise not a surprise as you say, not in the picture with this GM and new coach. Suter is a surprise as I think he is one of their better defenseman and is underrated at times.

Please would someone tell me how the draft works? I know the rules, but who makes the decision of who will be the first player draft in the expansion draft? Does Ron Francis have to go alpha, or does the NHL tell him what teams go in what order. Does he have time between the picks for trades (with Draft Picks) for players that are NOT protected. Does he just list the players given to the NHL? Anyone know? I want to guess who Ron Francis will pick first!

Welcome to Minnesota Jack. We can start building a winner around you four years from now when we have the space. Buyout penalty + Jack Eichel = 55 million of 80 spent on 1 active player.
Parise and Suter were slightly above average players. Fair enough, but here's the problem. Both players were getting paid at an Elite Player pay level–an Elite player who is CONSISTENTLY Elite. Neither player was worth their Salaries, to put it bluntly. Neither Parise or Suter performed equal to their salaries.
Look what happened when Parise was brought back in in the playoffs. To trade these two at this point in time is dumb. If you want a cup, you're going to have to get past the first round without these guys. Congratulations Zach and Ryan!
Think about it, in years 3 and 4, Ryan and Zach will both be 38 and older. Honestly there’s no difference between having that 15mil on the books and 20/11 playing on the rosters, or the buy out of 20/11

WOWsa!!! Didn't expect the Wild to buy out both Suter and Parise—I really like Zach Parise as a player but he's fragile and gets hurt a lot. Change of scenery may do both of them good in the future….and , now, they get to keep Dumba or trade him at a later date after the Expansion Draft. They will still have Cap problems for the next few seasons with the Cap being flat for a few years.
