  1. I expect a small improvement. They are going to have to make quite a few adjustments before they can become competitive and it takes time for players to get chemistry and really get the ball rolling.

I'm thinking it won't be till after next season that the organization will become close to the roster they want on the ice

  2. I see the Vegas expansion as being so different. Seattle's seems measured and slower to build, a longer term approach comparatively. Vegas, on ice was great to good but the franchise is in such disarray right now. Let's see how Seattle is in 5 years. I hope their approach builds a solid franchise and team on the ice.

  3. One more year at the bottom of the league for a shot at Connor Bedard and after that, they should try to go for a playoff spot.

  4. Well, the Kraken were certainly an expansion team, according to their record, but, I suspect they will improve next season , altho, it will be a few more seasons until they are truly competitive. The fan base is very excited and will be patient with this franchise, IMHO. GM Francis needs to get more scoring and solidify the goaltending situation, which was average at best.

  5. Matt Murray retain 4 million for 1st round pick Seattle Kraken, it's a long shot maybe not likely but it is a thought

  6. I think Francis did a tank for Bedard plan right at initial draft. Not take on any unnecessary money, and have a somewhat disciplined team considering the lineup. This truly is a build through the draft team and hopefully gets rewarded with futility… Francis has all the cards to play… He has draft picks which for sure he covets, cap space is the only thing more gold than draft picks. Francis also has time… to get it right… would I have drafted differently… probably most considerably… but I think Francis didn't want his team to be too good these next couple years 🤔

  7. Philip Graubauer is inconsistent here and with the Avalanche. I would’ve never signed him. Drieger needs more ice time.

  8. Klingberg never requested a trade, he said he was disappointed in the contract negotiations, which had stalled.

  9. I think Driedger suffered from injury and low PT and played quite a bit better at the end of the year. And trading him won't get him as good a return at it should add a result. But they probably need to trade him or Daccord or risk losing Daccord to waivers.

  10. More parties for the summer of love and alphabet people may help the Seattle Snowflakes ❄ get better.

  11. I'm not interested in Klingberg.
I am however VERY interested in picking up Forsberg I think it would be a better fit.
…and I think they will be much better next season.

  12. I expect them to definitely improve, with the trade deadline signing, Matty showing what he can do, then getting Turbo back from injury. I do think the loss of Turbo was massive and you could tell the team wasn't the same after that. I don't think they are playoff bound yet but I can see them making noise for a wild card spot.

  13. I think Seattle is gonna improve by over 20 points I see Seattle fighting for a wild card playoff spot. I see Seattle at 85 points missing playoffs but I think they will suprise a lot of people next season. I see them making playoffs in year 3.

  14. Why won't Seattle go for NYR Kaako? He is very young, and it seems the Coach does not like him. I figure a 4 year contract ($4.4) should do it. Great offensive side with Matty.

  15. I certainly hope they DO NOT bring in RH D man Klingberg, nor any other higher priced, 28/29+ yo players on modestly longer to long contracts… It will hamper team's cap situation when our prospects hopefully start all coming together to form a long term foundation for a competitive team. Klingberg is nearly 30 yo and 8-9.5m AAV for 6-8 years isn't very palatable IMO, especially if that contract has strong or total NMC/NTC.

Sea needs to be very methodical, savvy & opportunistic in a longer term approach strategy. It will kinda suck 1st couple years as far as on ice product goes, but need to take best approach for long term success & trying to remain very competitive for long stretches to win multiple Stanley Cups. IMO Sea should almost entirely focus on gaining right & best possible 18-24 yo maybe 25 yo prospects & players via UFA, RFA, trades & drafts so investment of resources are mainly all in similar age, development, etc competitiveness window say 5-6 seasons from now hopefully with a well stocked stable of young talent developing & coming up right behind them and cap is mainly invested in quality players with good length windows of prime still left for multiple Cup runs, and hopefully don't have any like 31+ yo, starting to or already declining players on any of those larger AAV, harder to nearly impossible to move/get out of contracts, and have enough cap to smartly bolster roster talent and or depth if/when needed for serious Cup run when those windows eventually arrive. In meantime next say 3-4 years, instead of handing out salary to sign UFA vets for on & off ice leadership, character, to build & set team identity… Make use out of knowing not going to be all that competitive & salary cap Sea does have and GAIN desirable assets from other teams for taking on certain vet players & their cap hits for 1-2 years (maybe 3 years depending on what we get in return, etc) who fit the bill for what we want & need from vets for a young roster & new franchise. Will probably mostly get draft picks in return, but can use them to trade up in drafts, draft a prospect, make some more meaningful and hopefully even some blockbuster trades for good, younger talent if/when opportunities present themselves, similarly having a number of additional picks 1-3 Round would lessen any potential losses of natural draft picks if we successfully make any/some savvy RFA offer sheet signings (something Sea should def consider & keep an eye out for opportunities to capitalize on even if it's seemingly considered bad form. Like 2022 RFA, keeping an eye on Dal G Jake Oettinger situation, see if can maybe force Dal hand buy making a 2 Round pick compensation RFA offer of 4.1m AAV 2-3 years for G J Oettinger, and also make the max allowance for 1 R & 3 R pick compensation RFA offer of what 6.1m ? AAV 2-3 year for LW Robertson. Though they may have bit more cap flexibility to match, see if can snake away NYI RH D man Noah Dobson with a 2 R RFA offer of 4.1m AAV 2-3 years, or if Sea thinks he's really legit, 1 R & 3 R pick comp RFA offer 6.1m AAV type deal).

Very glad Sea fired their Goalie coach pretty much day season ended, he was seemingly a very last minute afterthought option and it showed in how our G played though team in front of them didn't help any. Dunno if he was also let go recently or not, but if Dal G coach the last several years is available, he seems like a good option for both vet G play & in helping find & develop younger G talent. Next to top 6 Centers, G seems to be most difficult to find & by far usually the most lengthy to develop, so stands to reason that having top notch G coaches in both NHL & minor league levels, having some folks very adept at evaluating & finding quality G talent from pros to draft prospects should be a standard cornerstone for any legit consistently competitive NHL franchise, especially 1 that's trying to build a team around very strong D play and consistently good, reliable goaltending as team mold & how they intend to compete. Thought it was a massive oversight in inaugural season with G coaching choice.

After what I've seen in this year's playoffs especially the final 4 (as well as Sea own reg season on ice results), I think I'm ready to concede to seeming trend of best teams being centered around O production & skill, puck control in all 3 zones, mental aspects (hockey IQ, instincts & playmaking, discipline, fundamentals, spatial acuity, toughness/determination, mentality, leadership & personal accountability, compete, ability to handle pressure well and being finishers), modest extent physical traits (athleticism/speed/acceleration/quickness/agility/mobility, endurance, strength, power physical talent & build) with a legit upper tier #1 Goalie & reliably enough capable backup G option(s), has not just the top & better quality F & D man but also has the right quality & type of good depth, all as a team that has a general set identity & style of play, the coaching & schemes, how & ways they find to win, style of play & approach to game & how each opponent plays them to decent extent is relatively fluid & quick in adaptability without getting away from who & what they are (goes for players & coaches)….

Which has me seriously wondering if the intended strong D & strong G play as primary identity/style of play & focus for building roster is right direction to go with building a franchise & prospect pool in mold of with top picks.
