  1. Big OB fan from his WHL days, he went for cheap, clearly for quick salary issues. Rough to hear about him buying a house and getting engaged, all within 72 hours of getting traded

  2. How can teams keep paying 2 players 20-25% of the total cap? This has to be a trend teams will come to regret, yes? I can't see this being sustainable to put all of your money in your top 5 players and paying your bottom 6/3 league minimum.

  3. I saw that Kekaleinen press conference, he had a lot of trouble putting his ideas together on that trade. As a CBJ fan loved Bjorkstrand and Atkinson , two guys who wanted to stay but ultimately got dealt

  4. This one hurts, I'm a big fan of Bjorky so it hurts to see him go in the way that he did, but I ended up seeing Ryan Murray, and Marcus Nutivaara being traded for the same reason, so as a fan it hurts to see, but I do know the depth that Columbus had on the wing, so I can understand it, as much as I don't like the move

  5. its still better than Vegas for futures & Florida giving up their whole team for Tkachuk lol

  6. You should do a video on how you judged Pierre Luc-Dubois way too soon. It shows how we should take every article with a grain of salt.

  7. Seattle fans are very excited to be getting Bjorkstrand. To get him for a couple of magic beans? Chef's kiss. He will definitely make us better and the fans will embrace him straightaway.

  8. It’s weird to think that the CBJ would have cap crunch issues with as few known names as they have. Thee are some overpaid players on that roster. Also weird that Jarmo didn’t take a little more time in trying to rid himself of about $5mil.

  9. The problem was the bad contract Gundbranson 4 x 4mil. But CBJ has alot of salary coming off the books in a couple and I bet they will go after Matthews or another high end Center.

  10. There's a difference between a hockey trade and a salary dump. A hockey trade is where both teams are trying to win. A salary dump is a situation where the team dumping salary is trying to minimize damage. Teams taking on salary were requesting a high end prospect and a #1 draft pick.. The trade with Seattle was the only one where the Blue Jackets were not required to give up anything but the player whose salary was being moved. Philadelphia couldn't sign Gaudreau because teams they tried to move salaries to were demanding high draft picks to take on salary. Nyquist and Voracek couldn't be moved because teams wanted even more compensation to take on those contracts. All is not lost though. The Blue Jackets have numerous talented wingers, they can replace Bjorkstrand.

Consider this- the Blue Jackets have had great success finding value in the third round of the draft or lower. Elvis Merzlikins, Joonas Korpisalo, Oliver Bjorkstrand Keegan Kolesar and Daniil Tarasov were all 3rd round selections. David Savard, Josh Anderson and Emil Bemstrom were 4th round picks. Matt Calvert was selected in the 5th round. Cam Atkinson and Vladislav Gavrikov were found in the 6th round. Anton Forsberg and Marcus Nutivaara were 7th round selections. The Jackets have also done well with undrafted free agents. They currently have three- Eric Robinson, Nick Blankenberg and Justin Danforth. It wouldn't surprise me if the Jackets find good value with the 3rd and 4th round picks they acquired.

  11. Historically salaries for star players keep rising each year between CBA’s, with each star wanting what the last got or more. Of course because the cap doesn’t keep rising , it creates these issues. The cost of overpaying to sign a star has never been greater. I think we’ll see more and more trades such as Florida’s, in anticipation of Huberdeau getting paid. More and more teams will be selective about which stars they choose to pay. Because guys like Gaudreau routinely now get 9.5 mil, guys like Kadri and Kane aren’t getting paid in free agency like years past, like a David Clarkson ( bad example but you get what I mean). More teams will realize that you might be better off with two Bjorkstrand’s at 5 mil than one Gaudreau at 9.5. Indeed, the teams who win the cup have more 5 million dollar guys. No team has yet won with a star making over 10 mil ( correct me if I’m wrong), not sure if Kane and Toews won making that.

  12. If Columbus doesn't sign Gudbranson to a ridiculous contract at 4 million a year they most likely would have been able to keep him what a horrible signing it might be the worst of free agency

  13. I think what Columbus fans really can't stomach is they signed Gudbranson for 4x$4 contract for losing Bjorkstrand.

  14. Definitely wrong move Columbus…I said it soon as I heard. I would of paid a pick/prospect for someone to take Nyquist. instead of OB(especially for this weak of return). Also am I missing something…what's was the rush???

  15. Bjorky has been our leading scorer for the last several years and we just gave him away for a jawbreaker and a box of envelops!!! Damn the Gudbranson contract, Damnit all to hell!!! We didnt even need him then paid him $2 million more than he’s worth!!

  16. What I truly want to know is if Gudbranson was part of a inside request for Johnny choosing Columbus. I don't see anyone talking about how that could be a possibility, like others said, it really didn't make sense of his signing but hours later Johnny comes with too? Have a feeling that was part of the decision.

Ugly and sad but you could ask anyone what pairings would you chose for long term: Johnny, Laine and Gud or Bjork.. it would probably be a uniamous decision.. so as tough as it is, just going to have to deal with the repercussions to two star players, wish Bjork the best

  17. So much revisionist history around the Gudbranson signing. There was never a choice between Gudbranson and Bjorkstrand on the table. They signed Gudbranson and then Gaudreau got interested in Columbus from that news and Gudbranson's word on Columbus as a city which led to him asking other players for their opinions too. Their wives are both due within a few weeks of each other and are very good friends. It's pretty easy to draw the conclusion that no Gudbranson means no Gaudreau and then they could have kept Bjorkstrand. The math at the end of it all is Gudbranson, Gaudreau, a 3rd and 4th for Bjorkstrand. I take that trade 100% of the time for the Blue Jackets.

  18. Seattle at trade deadline I wouldn't be surprised if they traded Bjorkstrand and did very well there too .

  19. As a devil's fan I'm happy he's in Seattle..He killed us every game

  20. You would think that they would put it out publicly they are trying to trade Bjork. Probably would have done better on the salary dump.

  21. Dude he’s a pro ice hockey player he’s paid millions of dollars getting traded on your honeymoon is part of the job if he doesn’t like that work at Starbucks I feel no empathy for him – suck it up professional famous celebrity I’ve hockey millionaire Jesus

  22. I'll wait for a year before calling this a Kraken steal or the Gudbransson trade a fail, since in the past years pretty much every single CBJ move has turned out to be the right one in a longer run.
