Bring in trotz and run a better positional 2 way structured system starting in center ice.
If leafs played 1-2-2 and held their blue line or 1-3-1 at center ice more we would have had more success. Game one was positional sound but none of the rest. TB Gained offensive One too easily and could always get looks whereas leafs had more difficulty crossing tb blue line and were forced to the perimeter.
Defense and strong 2 way game wins championships we are too heavily reliant on offence and our structure on ice is always offensively minded instead of defence first and catch tb mistakes and counter attack.
They played a great series with amazing hockey im just sad it always ends so early just want to watch the boys through the summer
How does a team finish 4th overall and have to play the defending Stanley cup champs in the first round? That could’ve been a conference final. Regardless you gotta get through every team to win just seems stupid. Leafs would’ve walked through half the teams that made the playoffs.

Having a great season and breaking records is all good….but for the Leafs to win in the playoffs they need a beast on Defense….like a Pronger, Lidstrom or a Hedman as do the Lightning. They also need a world class goalie and as good as Campbell played, I'm not sure he's the answer. A few tweaks here and there and they will eventually be there with this group.

Everyone should just chill out. In terms of talent, Bolts are cup contenders; so are the Leafs. But the Bolts have the playoff experience, and the Leafs don't have nearly as much. Still, the series could have gone either way. Does not matter the Leafs have a history of past few years; only the current year matters. REMEMBER: The Bolts were far and away the best regular season team in 2019 and lost to the 4th place team FOUR STRAIGHT. Then came back and won the cup twice in a row. Lighten up. Competitive sports is unpredictable. That's why we stay interested.
Just think, 31 other teams have to explain why they didn't win! That is why the Stanley Cup is so beautiful! The level of competition in the NHL is so high! There is a saying, "before you can win, you have to figure out how not to lose!"

I think McDavids game 7 will inspire him for the future. Stamkos took 9 years to win a cup.. McDavid is a year older and just finally broke through. No worries just keep pressing. Still need a few pieces or current roster to mature and step it up. They are close.
I don't see how he can't be the captain before next season. He's the true team leader of the Leafs.

Matthews will be gone in two years. He will be playing in Tampa as Stamkos whine downs his career. Money talks and the taxes are far less in Florida. His ties are to America.

regardless of what happened, the Toronto Maple Leafs are STILL my favorite team & always will be. I truly do belive that the Leafs can get the cup & will get the cup once everything works/goes properly/right. The reffing almost reminded me of the way they reffed the TML vs LAK in 93/94.
