This coming season, the Devils will finish 1st in the Metropolitan Division with a 52-19-11 record, sweep the Maple Leafs in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, beat the Capitals in 5 games in the Eastern Conference semifinals, beat the defending Eastern Conference champion Lightning in 6 games and sweep the Flames in 4 games to capture their 4th Stanley Cup, but in order to do so, they Devils will have to trade Damon Severson, Jonathan Berner, Jesper Boqvist and prospects Nolan Foote and Kevin Bahl to the Canucks for Ilya Mikheyev, Brady Keeper and a swap of 2023 1st-rounders, trade Tomas Tatar, prospects Fabian Zetterlund and Nikita Okhotiuk and a 2023 2nd-rounder to the Senators for Alex DeBrincat and trade Ryan Graves, prospects Graeme Clarke and Jeremy Groleau and a 2023 5th-rounder to the Coyotes in exchange for Cam Dineen and a 2023 4th-rounder.
