I really hope we change the logo
I really hope they don’t
It wouldn't be a big deal to change the logo. Everybody already calls them the Hawks anyway.
I’m all for the logo becoming a bird especially since that was one of the original ideas when the franchise was formed.
My take is that native americans need the attention that a proffesional sports team can attract. Are the Blackhawks doing enough? No. If they were though, how beneficial could that be to help improve the lives of natives currently. It is a shame what our past government has done to this group of people and all the eyes and attention that the NHL brings could be the least of free publication that America could offer. Listen to their needs, meet their needs, and be an advocate.
changing the best logo in sports (which a majority of native americans actually like), would be such a fredo move.
things i am mad about
1. a hockey logo
2. gun violence in america
3. i recently ran out of merkts cheese
I personally hope they do not change the logo as I think it is one of the most beautiful logos in all of sports. Having said that, if Native Americans have a majority issue with it then change it, I just don’t want it changed due to angry white liberal types that want to be offended for every race. Let the change be driven from a call from a majority of the actual Native American community. That’s all 🤷🏻♂️ hope that is ok, not trying to stir the pot or anything just my opinion
I’ll support the rebuild. I’ll support the their decisions. But, if they go woke and change the logo. IM DONE!!! I’ll become a Red Wings fan. I’m done with this woke culture.
All you bleeding heart liberals go read about the Comanche tribe.
Commit to the Indian. Keep the logo
Changing an original 6 logo? Fuck no.
One part that was a little disappointing in the podcast (and I'm not yet all the way through, so maybe it'll come up) is the following:
You were asked "How is the logo offensive?" And your answer was "just because you're not offended doesn't mean other people aren't". I didn't like that answer. Of course, you can't speak for natives when it comes to "why is it offensive?". But I do think this question should be one of relevance in general. Because just answering it with "Well, just because you don't understand it doesn't mean we have to explain it" is the wrong approach in my opinion, especially if we're all about "listening to one another". Anyone can claim anything to be offensive, without rhyme or reason. And I think there should be questions asked about the "why?" before acting on it. Many native Americans (the ones whose opinions matter) have (as you said) claimed the logo to not only be not offensive, but a symbol of pride. Apparently, others believe differently. And I think it's important to at least hear and weigh the reasoning. Who's to say that we should take away a symbol of pride from native people just because others claim to be offended and don't even have to give their reasons for it?
I had the same problem with Fleury. He's of indigenous descend as well and he had to change his mask because it was offensive to other native people?
My question is: Where does it end? What's the boundary? If one person claims to be offended by something, is that enough to change it? Or is it only important enough when 10 people claim it? Or 100? Since when is the validity of feelings a matter of quantity?
I think it's wrong to change something just because someone claims to be offended by it. There's an equal side to the argument that claims they want the logo to stay because it's a representation that makes them proud. Who's to decide which side is more important?
And I would like a serious answer, maybe even from a Native American person or at least someone who really understands the reasoning: How and why is the head of chief Black Hawk as a logo offensive?
I’m Native American and that’s part of the reason why I love the Blackhawks logo. The logo is beautiful and has history behind it. But I think anymore they make our ancestors look weak which they were not! That’s just my opinion. Hope everyone has a Blessed day!
No weapons depicted on a goalie mask while tomahawks rest comfortably on the shoulders.
I like the logo currently, if they change it then I'm okay with that, could be cool or interesting if they did even tho there's positives i would prefer if they kept it the way it is because it's hard to not imagine blackhawk when thinking of the Blackhawks
being a Hawks fan since the late 50s when i discovered hockey on the radio, i would be devastated if they changed the logo..todays society, is idiotic, and i'm not saying what i really think….Rocky, you once stated that you would never change the Indian head logo, don't go back on your word…
Agree to disagree. It's in the past so leave it in the frikn past and stop basing it off false history. Sorry not sorry.
