Don't get me wrong I'm pumped for this year just picked up a new Norris jersey however I think making the playoffs is out of the question. The east and especially the Atlantic are insanely strong. The team will definitely take a big step forward but I have a hard time believing the jump the leafs, panthers, and lightning for a divisional spot and for the wildcard pretty much the whole division except maybe 2 or 3 teams you could make arguments for snagging them.
Meaningful games late is realistic. People want it all now, a complete squad, but the roster still needs time. Playoffs next year should be an expectation.
Sens need to be calm the D front. After this season, plenty of good UFA Dmen become available. This includes, if not signed by Calgary, local-boy Weeger! Yotes are on the clock on Chychrun too. So I like that Dorion is being calm here and waiting it out. Weeger, Gudas, Orlov, Kulikov, Dumba… to name a few. Meanwhile, we will have off our books Hamonic, Holden and 1 year of Zaitsev remaining which can be dumped.
Jake Sanderson stepping right in to be our #3 defenseman is probably a bit much to ask of him at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if that doesn’t materialize until next year or by the end of this year at the earliest. Sanderson hasn’t played a shift in the NHL yet!
Guarantee ottawa starts 2 and 10
Jacob Chychrun is a good defense, but the price is at least one to two pieces too high. A first round pick (top 10 protected) should be enough for him or trading Brannstrom plus a second round pick. Anything more than that and I'd rather wait than roll the dices.
Forsberg vs Murray would be good tho
