  1. Normally haven't been able to agree BUT like Lego said even looking past the verdict, Virtanen is really not that worth it outside of just having an extra player on the roster.

Its just a PTO so we will see if he makes it to the regular season.

  2. Sorry Lego this seems so damn personal for literally no reason, y’all praying on a human beings downfall. It’s a PTO for a reason, give him a chance. If he doesn’t make it boohoo, if he makes it? What now?

  3. LOL, this is a good move for Edmonton. Hello…they’re not signing a top six here. He’ll be fine in a third or fourth line position. And the guy deserves another shot after all the bull crap he went through with false allegations proven in court. Horrible take on the situation. Really bottom of the barrel content. Sound like a jealous ex girlfriend here, lmao, got to be honest

  4. If the oilers get the Virtanen 2019-20 version of him then I think it is worth it. He was found not guilty. So he deserves a second chance. Everyone does. I feel like people are writing him off because of the allegations. Remember there are plenty of people out there who are wrongfully accused of sexual assault. Every SA case should be taken seriously but that does not mean automatically believing the victim every time before the legal process is complete.

  5. I'm a life long oilers fan and I honeslty don't care about this guy, if he's good enough great. If not then great, I see it as a depth move and hope the oilers organization can teach this 'brick'

  6. Olli Jokinen underachieved for several years till a great coach Mike Keenan got him moving. I think if the right person can help Jake he can still become a decent player. If Jokinen can do it I sure hope Jake can. Was not wanted by the Canucks. Was their whipping boy. I think they messed his development up. He should have played in the Jr's for a few years before trying for the club. Young players make mistakes and they benched him for almost every transgression. Perhaps it is to late for him, but he is still young enough to make a real change.

  7. oilers are a joke, imagine having kane and virtanen in the same room 😂😂😂

  8. All the same comments that were leveled on Kassian, and Kane. Can't wait for Jake to do well, and prove everyone wrong, and showing that giving people another chance, on an objectively better team is the human and right thing to do, regardless of the optics.

  9. The Oilers wanted Evander Kane too I'm not surprised by this thought kane is an alleged assaultist against his then girlfriend?

  10. Evbankrupt Ko Kane and Jakey boy should be cellmates not teammates 🤣😂🤣💙🧡🛢🤡🤡🤡

  11. So when a woman accuses you, it is supposed to ruin your life? Give the guy a chance.

  12. How would that be the oilers having spite? Spite against who? The canucks?
That tweet made absolutely no sense

  13. "He had 1 good year"

Completely misses the guy scored 10 goals and then 15 goals next season and then 18 goals the next season…

Guess what? Jesse has had chance after chance as well and he's gone nowhere.

  14. What if bricks actually have a really high hockey IQ, but are just held back by their lack of limbs and sentience?

  15. Bro it's just a pto, not even a guaranteed contract, those fake allegations really made everyone act a certain way eh

  16. My God the overreaction to this PTO is ridiculous. First off it's just a PTO. Secondly he was found innocent meaning all judgement towards him for those allegations should be gone. Are we really a society that now if you're accused of something you're automatically a bad person whether you're innocent or not?

  17. It is weird that Twitter mobs get to decide guilt or innocence, regardless of what reality may be. The tweet you highlighted by Veillette is laughable.
Maybe the Oilers think a change of scenery and time away from the nhl could help his game? saying it's "bad optics" or an "absurd hill" to die on isn't remotely close to reality outside of dummies online trying to create controversy.

  18. If he's as crappie as you say he is, he has zero chance of making the team so what's all the hub bub about!!! What will you say if he scores 20 goals and has a great season!?!?😉

  19. As with most players on a PTO, it doesn't really cost a team anything, and if the guy over-performs, hey it's found money! Somebody was going to give him a chance. After his trial, I'm sure the guy wants to give his career one more try. I can only imagine what he was going through internally in Russia playing with guys he didn't know in a weird country (compared to Canada) with a potential prison sentence looming if he was convicted. I'm cutting him some slack, and if he plays good enough he stays; if not he'll be looking for a new team, probably in Europe. I've never been a Virtanen fan, but I'd like to see him get his life back together.

  20. You really worked yourself up here. It’s a PTO. If he doesn’t deserve it, he won’t make it.

You are not being objective here at all.

  21. Just saw this now but while yes he was trash in Vancouver outside the one good season, It wasn't best he played here and hopefully he learnt that. He will be in the same scenario as E.Kane for the Oilers. He also in fairness didn't do good in Spartak because he was basically a rookie in the KHL, having not played professionally in Europe before, where as Lehtera has played in the KHL since 19-20 and had lots of experience there in the past (lockout season etc), same for the other players pointed out on spartak having prior season experience in the KHL.
