  1. As a blues fan, I'm going to say the Avs will win………cause they have a dirty player in khadri. He's the western conference's Brad marchand.

  2. I’m gonna say Blues in 7. I think the blues have a chip on their shoulder from last year.

  3. i think if anyone is going to beat the avs its the Blues. my gut says avs in 6 but recently the way the Blues are playing remind me of 19 should be a good series both exited and nervous.

  4. Binnington is going on another run. Their defense is better. Makar will be shut down.

    Blues in 6

  5. I know how good the Avs are. They were monsters all year. But this Blues team is way deeper than people realize. And as a hockey fan, I think the Blues have the best chance to upset Colorado now. There’s still a lot of guys on that Blues team that won the Cup only three years ago. And they’re arguably better this year. Plus, Berube is a heck of a coach. I might be in the minority, but I foresee an upset.

  6. Life long Blues fan here. I just don't see us beating these guys, they are just too deep and strong. That being said, you play the games and hope for the best. LETS GO BLUES!!!!!

  7. I said this on a video back when you went over the trade deadline needs for the blues. We are not fast enough to skate with this CO team. The speed will cause us some defensive break downs along with the Blues having offensive issues because of the gap closure that CO will have due to their speed. When the blues are pressured by a team their puck skills will suffer. Since the Blues "speed" is from their passing / transitioning they will suffer due to the gap closure and it will seem like they can't make good passes or keep the puck on their stick. The bottom line for the Blues will be which team shows up, the team that wants to try to skate with CO or the Team that will be physical and wear down CO. Unfortunately the odds are that CO wins the series, but I will still be watching and hoping for a Blues win.

Congrats on the 8/8 Shannon, well done.

I also would like to point out that Nashville is not a great team, the blues scored 7 goals in 1 period on them during the regular season, therefore I do believe that the CO numbers are a bit skewed in comparison to the Blues facing the wild.

  8. From Front Office to 4th line, the Avs are lazer focused on one thing this season. They have an entire top six line and starting goalie pending UFAs. After a couple months of blowing teams out, they, as Rantanen admitted, "got tired" but still managed to regularly beat teams 2-1, 3-2. Then they rested guys at the end, when Bednar admitted "the gamea don't mean that much for us" LOL Landy got his knee surgery. G got some back rest. Mikko and Toews got a week off. A few other guys got some games off too. Sakic made some big moves. And we have the ultimate redemption story with Kadri. Oh, and we have Bednar keeping Newhook in a cage, getting into a frenzy. Once the Avs have a hiccup, he'll be unleashed for a big boost. The Avs will easily push aside the Blues for another week of rest.

  9. What an incredible first round! Nashville and my Avalanche aside, it was thrilling! Going in to the playoffs, St. Louis was the one team I didn't want to play, but it was imminent, so bring it on, Blues. There's no way we lose this series. The time is here, the time is now. 4-2, Avalanche! Keep up with the great vidz, Guy. Should've subscribed a long time ago.

  10. I think that the blue line is gonna make the difference in this one. I really like both teams forwards top to bottom, but I’ve felt pretty shaky on the Blues defense since Pietrangelo left a few years back. A lot of potential there, but it takes more than that. I think it’ll be a closer series than most forecast, but I’m thinking it’ll be the Avs.

  11. Rust is so overblown…getting fully healthy, not to mention avoiding future injuries,& wear and tear in games you never have to play,is far more important Just look at last year…Vegas went 7 with Minnesota,& was exhausted in game 1. Avs had 8 days off…& won game 1 by 7-1 score. Game 2,Vegas probably deserved to win,but Grubbauer was phenomenal,(unlike later in the series)& Avs won in OT. Point is,the problem wasn't early in the series…it was games 3 through 6.

I expect this will be a tough series…St Louis is far deeper,& better than Nashville… certainly at forward,& without Sarros. In fact, most the areas in this series, are pretty close if you line them up. Goaltending will be a wild card…which Binnington will show up? Cup winning Binnington,or the guy who has largely been dominated by Colorado, the last few seasons? If he falters,as I expect he eventually will…how will Husso perform? We all know Kuemper has playoff questions to answer, despite the fact he's had some unbelievable isolated playoff performances before. He hasn't had a sustained, consistent fun,& he's gonna need to be solid at least against St Louis. Who knows if the eye injury will play any role, although the Avs,& him have said it's not gonna be a factor. He got lucky it more hit his eye lid,& the swelling has apparently subsided, with that week off. BTW,Bednar,& Kuemper both said he's totally good to go,& is definitely starting game 1 tonight. That's why you always take rest,& time off. The NHL playoffs are a grind,& every game you can AVOID playing,is as important as anything. To a lesser degree,St Louis winning game 6,(& even more so,coming from behind to win game 5 in Minnesota)-was important to avoid game 7. Obviously, cuz who knows if they would have won game 7 in Minnesota, but also cuz you got a few days off, before having to come play game 1 at altitude, where the Avs have only lost 5 games in regulation all season. Including 1 to St Louis, but if was the 2nd game of the season.

I think this will be a very competitive,& tough series. I think St Louis is a much better,& deeper team than they were last playoffs, when we swept them. Unfortunately for St Louis…so is Colorado. Lehkonen,& to lesser degrees-Cogliano (if he's healthy now),& Sturm, have been upgrades from last season. Manson took awhile to adjust to how the Avs play vs Anaheim-but he's been great lately. No Bo Byrum last playoff, cuz we insisted on icing the disaster that was Patrick Nemeth. And maybe that's the biggest difference… addition by subtraction of Nemeth. Not as a person…but solely as a player…he was a friggin disaster. Avs just have a much deeper blue line than last season. They had the cream at the top with Makar,& Toewes…but just not quality depth last season. Nemeth couldn't even crack our top 8 this playoff,& sit in the press box…let alone crack the top 6,& actually get in a playoff game. And that is a great thing,he was arguably 1 of Vegas 3 stars last playoff.

And that's where I see the biggest difference between these teams. Yes goaltending is a bit of a wild card,as it usually is,unless you are Tampa,& while Colorado has a big more elite,& star power at the top of our forwards…St Louis probably has a bit more depth, especially scoring depth. I'd give the Avs a slight edge in forwards overall-but not by much.

But these blueline are not remotely close. Even if St Louis was completely healthy-& they aren't-Avs have a significant edge, both in quality at the top,but also depthwise on the back end. I heard Krug is a long ways from coming back, not sure about any of the other guys on St Louis, but Colorado should have everybody available 1 through 8.(9 if you count McDermott) And not only don't the Blues have anybody remotely as good as Makar…the exact same is true of Toewes. Colorado is probably the only NHL team with 2-top 10 NHL dmen…maybe even top 5. And the depth we have is also vastly superior to St Louis. EJ isn't what he once was,but as your 6th dman,is pretty damn good. Jack Johnson,& Murray would at least crack the bottom pair on most teams,(or higher on a few)-they are likely 7th,& 8th injury/poor play insurance on this team. Byrum still has much to learn,& is far from a finished product. But he would be the most TALENTED dman on several teams… probably including St Louis. Manson has grown into exactly what we needed,& lacked on last year's team. And while Girard had a bit of a down regular season,& remains a bit of a fan whipping boy-hes still 1 of the better 3rd dman in the NHL. Had an awful turnover in game 2 vs Nashville that led to their only goal,& fans destroyed him over it,with some justification. But what most fans don't realize-his analytics the rest of that game, were off the charts amazing great..They just didn't lead to a goal, cuz that's the game,Connor Ingram pulled his Jake Ottenger impression.

Everywhere else I think these teams are pretty close. The 1 area where either team has a major advantage is that. I don't think St Louis has a very good blueline, even if fully healthy….especially defensively. I don't think they can even remotely slow down Colorado…this is not 2019 grind you down St Louis. This team can score with anybody, but no longer has the defensive personnel to shut anybody down.

Exhibit A is Nick Leddy…a guy who has experience,& some offensive skill to his game, but even in his prime, was never a physical presence. At this stage of his career,I'm not sure he could crack the Avs top 6. MAYBE he could beat out EJ for #6,but that's even debatable. I think Colorado is a terrible matchup for him,& the rest of the Blues back end. Leddy has actually been forced to play on St Louis top pair, cuz of injuries. That should not go well vs Colorado, whether he gets matched up vs McKinnons line,or even Kadris. I expect this will be a hard fought 6 game series, where the Avs win 2 at home, split in St Louis, then the Blues get off the mat,& remind everyone of what Champions they are…& stun the hockey world by winning game 5 in Denver,to avoid elimination. Then just as the narative gets heated up,that Colorados past playoff demons are creeping back up…I think the Blues back end starts to wear down,& gets fully exposed,as the Avs clinch in game 6 in St Louis.

But I have full respect for St Louis. They are a well coached team, full of Champions,& all the pressure is on Colorado. Unlike Nashville,I have very little to say about the Blues that is negative, except they didn't do enough at the deadline on their back end,& injuries since, have made it even more dire. Callie Rousen on your 2nd pair against his former team (briefly was an Av,in the Kadri trade,I believe)-just isn't gonna cut it. Josh Manson would've been a perfect add for St Louis,Giordano…hell, even overrated Chirot would've made them much tougher to play against. Instead they got Leddy,& I know he's been pretty good with St Louis, but he just isn't the type of dman they needed,& I fully expect this will be a very long series for him,& all of St Louis back end. Avs in 6,& kill some of our past demons,by finally making a WCF,1st time since 2002.

  12. As a blues fan I don't think there is a team I despise more than Colorado (solely due to who their owner is). Hope this series isn't a blowout.

Regardless if Blues lose I will be cheering for literally every other team

  13. I think both teams are at the point they can only beat each other. This is going to be all about placements and synergy between players themselves. I am going for the blues to win the cup. #IbleedBlue

  14. It's going to be interesting to see how Colorado handles their long lay-off…because last year it didn't go so well…if I remember correctly.

  15. Despite the series already being decided by the media and every fan outside of St. Louis, I'm glad the Blues have still decided to go ahead and play.

  16. I'm doing the same thing I did for the first round for each of these series as well, looking at each team's performance in 5-on-5 periods in the last ten games they played, compared to their opponent and the rest of the league, to get an idea of what might happen in the playoffs. (The third number in a team's record represents regular-season games in which the teams were tied after 60 minutes.)

    Colorado: 5-4-1, +4 goal differential (T-6th), 3.65 GF/60 (6th), 37.1 SOG/60 (4th), 9.8 shooting% (16th), 20.5% PP (13th), 83.9% PK (8th), 10.3 PIM/60 (19th), 50.1 FOW% (15th)
    St. Louis: 5-4-1, +4 goal differential (T-6th), 3.90 GF/60 (T-1st), 30.7 SOG/60 (16th), 12.7 shooting% (2nd), 31.6% PP (3rd), 84.4% PK (6th), 7.8 PIM/60 (T-11th), 50.5 FOW% (13th)

    Expected matchup stats
    Colorado: 3.71 GF/60, 19.6% PP, 72.6% PK, 49.8 FOW%
    St. Louis: 3.83 GF/60, 27.4% PP, 80.4% PK, 50.2 FOW%

    Projected winner: St. Louis

  17. I do think these odds are way too avs favoured, even if I think they end up winning it

  18. I feel this series is going to be closer than alot of people are thinking. Ive got my money on Colorado but I doubt they will get another sweep! 😊👍

  19. IF (big if) Binnington plays up to his level, he will give the Blues opportunities to win this series. I realize the Avs have monster speed; but if the Blues play their game, they can win this in six.
