  1. Classy way to go about it. Gotta hand it to him. Never was my favorite coach but yeah he's doing this with class.

  2. Canes fan here. Always been a Paul Maurice fan, since he took us to the Finals in 2002 and even his less-successful second stint. Class guy.

  3. Jets should try to find a place for him in upper management. You always want good people in an organization.

  4. Just my opinion but I think he may be worn down by the way the NHL and Canada have handled COVID. It’s sad because he’s a great coach. I just think it’s more than him thinking he cannot do anything more with this team.

  5. Would love him to be the leafs coach again but it probably won’t happen. I can see him going to a place like Philly

  6. Takes a real man to step back. I wish chuck fletcher in mn woulda done this as gm. Then again it takes a real man, a hockey man, chuck is neither, and neither is craig. Good luck paul, and winnepeg!

  7. Gonna miss this man. A true class act. All the best Coach 👍 🙌 the peg will forever be grateful.

  8. A class act! I've always respected him as a coach. As I listen to him now I can't believe we're (all of the NHL) going to lose a great coach. I understand what he is saying. What a great man. I'm an Oiler fan but I feel for the Jets loss. Good luck Paul. 🙂

  9. wow – how many NHL coaches RESIGNED during the season, in the last 30 years? 2 ? CLASS!!

  10. Paul Maurice is a good coach. He deserved better.

There are 4 cancers on the Winnipeg Jets. They wear the numbers 26, 37, 55 and 81.

  11. I think he left because he tried to teach them how to play and guys like Marc just couldn't grasp the concept of defense. You look at Washington they were a powerhouse but no playoff success. Finally they got a coach who taught them structure, to not pinch at the wrong times and get caught up ice. I look at the jets and think they blew it. They had a team that could beat any team in the league. Now they aren't a playoff team. I think Maurice had enough, they weren't listening. The jets may of let him step down instead of firing him but I blame the team. I blame Marc and Blake, the so called leaders of the team are not leaders. That's my opinion, they are selfish, egotistical and petty. Just look how Wheelers career started and that speaks volumes about his character. Marc is a soft player, look at that hit on that Montreal D man that got him suspended. Pathetic piece of sh@# crushes a player when the game is over. And jets are without him for the playoffs. Good job keep that up you'll be captain of the jets sinking ship. I feel bad for Connor, ehlers, helebuyuk and Morrissey having a captain like that is sad to have a 30 something year old man go after Laine and talk behind his back. Yeah great captain winnipeg what a choice, he sounds like some frat boy bully who is actually a insecure little boy inside

  12. What a Beauty! His job is to do what's best for the team. His job is to get his team into the best position to win, and to realize that you have to step aside in order to achieve that but even more importantly to actually do it. That's a Coach. What a Beauty!

  13. 😢 I cried when he made this announcement I didn’t want to believe it when he left. I’m a fan I hope he does well in Florida. God bless P.M.
